After Little Girl's Cancer Diagnosis, Photographer Captures Moment Family Shaves Heads
The support of one’s family is a beautiful thing indeed. All the more so if you are a child diagnosed with cancer.
One family from Arizona received the dreaded news no one ever wants to hear. Ashley and Chris learned their 5-year-old daughter Madison “Madi” has leukemia.
According to a Facebook post shared by Alicia Samone Photography, Madi’s type of leukemia “is called Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). It’s an aggressive blood cancer.”
“As Madi fights against AML and we fight alongside her, I will be posting updates on our progress. My strong, brave girl will beat this!” the “My Miracle Madi” Facebook page reads.
Though this is such a heartbreaking situation for everyone who knows this sweet little girl, her family has chosen to stand by her through every hardship.
One of the hardest and most familiar side effects associated with cancer and its treatment is hair loss. Sadly, Madi needed to have her head shaved.
She wasn’t alone, though. Alicia Samone Photography shared some photos that will break and warm your heart in the same instant.
“I will never get used to the look in the kids’ eyes. Deep deep in their eyes,” Samone wrote on her page. “And I know more than anything that these beautiful children are just that… Beautiful children that a horrible disease has taken hostage.”
According to Samone’s post, Madi’s family held a “shaving party” in her honor. The entire event was captured and frozen in time, revealing the true meaning of love.
“God is always listening to our prayers, and the power of prayer is unstoppable through Jesus Christ Amen,” a post on “My Miracle Madi” says.
These photos are truly incredible and capture love at its finest. What an amazing family and support system this little girl has.
