Miracle Caught on Camera When Man Saves Tiny Puppy Not Breathing

Share

When a mother dog gives birth to a litter of tiny puppies, the sight can be a joyous one. What could be more adorable than a dozen little dogs brought to life?

Though cute and cuddly, there are dangers posed for puppies just as there are for human babies. And like human babies, puppies have their own version of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

According to VCA Animal Hospitals, Puppy Fading Syndrome occurs when a pup from birth to two weeks of age dies of a number of causes.

These causes can include low birth weight, malnutrition and infection. Because of how vulnerable a puppy is during this young age, body temperature and weak immune systems are also factors.

This syndrome isn’t the only cause of puppy death, though. In fact, it’s not uncommon for the mother to be the cause of her baby’s fatality.

According to Pet Helpful, there are times when mother dogs may accidentally crush their young pups or even smother them to death. When a litter is large, the risk for this possibility is higher.

There are some precautions that can be taken to prevent an accident like this from taking place. Owners are advised to sleep near the new litter, in the beginning, sticking close in case a pup cries out for help.

Do you know how to give CPR to a dog?

Sadly, there are times when a crushed puppy isn’t caught in time. This can be devastating for the owner and the mother.

One quick-thinking man turned a similar situation around when he found his dog had lain on top of her newborn.

In a video shared by Newsflare, the man can be seen swooping in to rescue the puppy, giving her CPR and working to resuscitate her with his mouth and hands.

“I came inside and couldn’t count them all,” he said. “We’ve been trying to give her some breaths… come on, you’ve got to breathe, baby.”

His patience and calm actions are something to behold. The process lasts several minutes and the mama dog, Maggie, can be seen looking on with worry in her eyes.

When the puppy begins to breathe on her own again, the sight is relieving and heartwarming. What a miracle!

“An hour ago, she was lying there lifeless,” the man says to the camera. “And now she’s back to full health. We have to be more careful with mama though.”

A truly sweet ending, indeed! We’re so glad the pup was okay. Thankfully, this man knew just what to do in order to save the baby in time.
