Notre Dame Gets Absolutely Roasted for the Uniforms It Wore in New York
Pinstripe uniforms and Yankee Stadium usually go together like peanut butter and jelly.
But the pinstripes that Notre Dame trotted out in its Shamrock Series matchup with Syracuse resembled something like peanut butter and ketchup — or whatever disgusting combination you can think of.
Notre Dame returned to Yankee Stadium for the first time in eight years as it hosted Syracuse in a matchup of top-ranked teams.
But people on social media spent more time talking about the uniforms the Fighting Irish were wearing rather than the game itself. It’s hard to get a consensus on social media, but it was nearly unanimous that Notre Dame’s pinstripes were not a good look.
Didn’t think there could be an uglier jersey combo than the Notre Dame Bright greens….. https://t.co/VcXy6ZQ1ph

Notre Dame deserves to lose today on uniforms alone

Whoever designed these Notre Dame uniforms will need to attend confession for the next century.

Wanted to give the Irish uniforms another look. Maybe the benefit of the doubt. So I changed the channel, waited a moment and then went back to the Notre Dame broadcast. Upon further review pic.twitter.com/DLM8mgakcS

The uniforms were such a big talking point that many forgot what happened in the game itself.
The Irish scored the first 36 points of the game and kept Syracuse off the scoreboard for all but the final 10 seconds of the game. Notre Dame won 36-3 and remained undefeated at 11-0.
Quarterback Ian Book returned from missing last week’s game with a rib injury to outgain Syracuse by himself. He had 308 yards of total offense while the Orange had just 234 yards as a team.
“The ribs feel good,” Book said. “Wasn’t even thinking about them during the game.”
Notre Dame has just one more game on its schedule, against reeling USC on Saturday at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
A victory would assure the Irish a spot in the College Football Playoff, but coach Brian Kelly isn’t thinking about the playoffs. He says he’s just focused on what he can control.
“I don’t know that if we win our last game that we’re going to the playoffs, but that’s not in our control,” coach Brian Kelly said. “What we can control is how we prepare. If we do a good job there and win our game, then we would have won all our games and we’ll let people decide who should go to the playoffs.”
With the victory over Syracuse, Notre Dame improved to 17-6-3 all-time at Yankee Stadium, including 3-0 in the current version of the stadium which opened in 2009.
