Owners Share Hilarious Photos 'Shaming' Their Chickens for Misbehaving

Share

Ah, chickens. Is there anything as quaint and pastoral as a small flock of clucking hens foraging for their dinner in your backyard?

Many people have gotten into the world of poultry because they thought it would be charming to get fresh eggs and hear the soft sounds of broody hens.

But real life is a bit grittier than that. Chickens do produce eggs and they make the loveliest of gentle sounds, but they can also screech and they run like Velociraptors. They’ll peck at (and eat) anything they can get their beaks on, and they poop wherever they please.

Chicken aficionados know this and love them all the more for their quirks, but they’ve also started to publicly highlight their chickens’ antics.

Chickens have excellent eyesight to pair with their questionable IQ. When they see something bright, or something run, they like to chase.

When the thing running is a tiny human closer to their own size, that ups the ante. This chicken has clearly made a game out of antagonizing kids, and he doesn’t look sorry about it. Not one bit.

Speaking of antagonizing, this beautiful hen has a dark side as well. Generally speaking, cats are hunters and like to eat birds, but this bird bites back.

She looks pretty content there, too, nestled down on someone’s lap. But one look at her eye tells you she’ll bump and peck the cat again as soon as he shows up.

Hens and cats are both barnyard critters, so it makes sense that they would run into each other at times.

It appears that this hen plans those run-ins. Cats are revered as stealthy hunters, but this hen is clearly challenging that theory.

Chickens and dogs are also a common sight, and if you’ve had the opportunity to witness the two in action together, you know this to be true.

Hey, at least you don’t have to clean it up yourself … but look out when your pup wants to plant a sloppy kiss on you! (Gross.)

If it’s shiny, it will at some point be a target. All that glitters is gold to chickens, and they can spot the glint of metal from a mile off.

Not really, but watch out when you’re wearing jewelry around them. They will steal.

Chickens, as we generally think of them, have one job. And that job is to lay eggs. But sometimes there are slackers.

True chicken lovers will still find chickens amusing, in spite of (or, perhaps, because of) these naughty hijinks.

Have you ever owned chickens? Did you experience anything like the owners of these fowl creatures?
