Palace Releases Details on Arrival of Royal Baby No. 3 as Due Date Draws Near
Everyone loves a royal wedding. With a whir of excitement buzzing around Prince Harry’s upcoming marriage to Meghan Markle in May, it’s hard for fans of the royal family to think about anything else.
Yes, ’tis the season for matrimonial bliss, and even more so for Windsor Castle-style weddings. Even Hallmark is banking on the world’s love for princess-perfect ceremonies, with Spring Fever features like “Once Upon a Prince” and “Royal Matchmaker.”
But amid all the newlywed fun, let’s not forget how our hearts were filled with the same kind of joy upon Prince William’s marriage to small-town girl Kate Middleton (now known as Catherine). The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are currently expecting their third child, and the due date is fast approaching.
It’s safe to say we’ll fall in love with this new little bundle of joy just like we did when Prince George and Princess Charlotte were born. For those who have been waiting for more details surrounding the upcoming birth, here is what we know so far:
The birth will take place at St. Mary’s Hospital in London sometime in late April. Both Princess Charlotte and Prince George were born at St. Mary’s, and their soon-to-be sibling will be welcomed into the world inside the very same wing.
The Lindo Wing is private and extremely expensive, with a suite estimated to cost the couple around 7,500 pounds. That’s around $10,000 USD.
Extra precautions are being taken to prepare for the royal birth. Parking has already been suspended in the area and though we don’t have a specific date, we do know this means the child could arrive very, very soon.
The baby will be great-grandchild number six for Queen Elizabeth and fifth in line for the crown. The gender has not yet been revealed, but Prince or Princess, we can surely expect the child to be as adorable as his or her siblings.
George and Charlotte have grown up in the spotlight, and baby number three will be no different. A special area near the Lindo Wing has even been reserved for the media.
When Charlotte left the hospital in 2015, the crowd cheered and the media went wild. No doubt we can expect the same sort of excitement to accompany the new baby’s arrival.
We also know that thanks to a law put in place in 2011, whether the new baby is a boy or girl, the right to the throne remains the same. The more important focus lies in praying for a smooth delivery for the Duchess of Cambridge.
Pregnancy complications for Catherine have caused some concern. Her experience with extreme nausea and vomiting, a condition known as hyperemesis gravidarum, has put her at higher risk.
But she has suffered from this same complication in the past and still continued to take part in public events leading up to the birth, so fans’ minds have been put at ease. We can surely expect a healthy mom and baby when the big day arrives.
The world will be anxiously awaiting that day. Let the final countdown begin!
