The new year brings the excitement of new possibilities. One famous family has a little more to be excited about this year.

HGTV’s hit show “Fixer Upper” is hosted by Chip and Joanna Gaines. In September, they announced that the current season, its fifth, would be their last.

Fans were saddened to hear their favorite show was coming to an end but could hardly fault the couple for being ready for the next chapter in their lives.

And last night, Chip Gaines revealed in an Instagram post what that next chapter would be.

Yes, that’s right! Joanna and Chip are expecting baby number 5! News of the pregnancy quickly went viral.

A number of fans had been speculating based on hints the family had been dropping for quite some time now.

One example was the season four finale episode, which featured the home renovated for Fixer Upper producer Michael Matsumoto and his family.

At the end of the show, the Matsumoto’s revealed to the Gaineses they were pregnant with twins. Chip and Joanna teased they’d have to have another so that they could stay ahead.

Chip also shared a few teasers on his Twitter page last night before posting the now infamous Instagram photo.

On the days following Christmas, Joanna clearly showed us she was already in “nesting mode” by doing some attic organizing and clean-out.

In her Instagram story, she shared a photo of each of her children’s baby clothes packed up ever so sweetly.

It consisted of her favorite baby clothes and shoes from each of her kids.

She also included to each of them a handwritten note. “…in case they are sentimental like their mama.”

Joanna shared a few other “organizing and purging,” as she called them, photos and tips in the days that followed.

Perhaps letting us know she was cleaning and preparing for the new baby?

Either way, now we all know the real reason they are ending the show after the fifth season is done airing. The Gaineses have always prided themselves on putting family first and they continue to show us that in spades.
