San Francisco Residents Completely Forget How the Constitution and Right to Vote Work

Share

A nation without secured borders is no nation at all.

That is indisputable fact. Anybody with an elementary school education and has looked at a globe or map can attest to this. There are lines denoting separate countries on a map for a reason.

A country that grants illegal immigrants the same rights as its lawful citizens is eating itself from the inside out.

That’s apparently not an issue for many San Francisco residents, as a disturbing Prager U video shows.

Prager U’s Will Witt conducted a random survey asking San Francisco residents if they felt that illegal immigrants should be allowed to vote.

The answers were… less than desirable, to say the absolute least.

“You know, I feel like people who are living here, anyone — illegal or not — has a right in their opinion…I do feel like everyone has a right to vote. Illegal or not,” one woman responded.

If I face-palmed any harder at that response, I’d have to be on suicide watch. Where to even begin?

Most importantly of all, voting in a democratic republic is a right of citizenship, not a favor to be doled out based on emotion or fads. There are countries with literal and pseudo dictatorships that effectively suppress every citizen’s right to vote.

If the Constitution guarantees citizens the right vote in a democratic system, the least we can do is actually follow the letter of the law in the Constitution to ensure future generations of Americans have that right too.

“I don’t believe that people are illegal,” another woman says in the video. “So…yes.”

Ah, the old straw man. Nobody is arguing if a person or humanity is inherently “illegal,” as this young woman seems to be alluding to. But citizenry? That is absolutely something where legality can and should play a role.

Witt, who should be commended for not laughing out loud at any of the responses, followed up in his interview with the first woman by asking if she thought citizens who don’t pay taxes should also be allowed to vote.

“I haven’t paid taxes since 2014 and I still vote. So, yes,” she answered without skipping a beat.

San Francisco is a bastion for the far-left, but this is still insane. Illegal immigrants are not American citizens — not even in San Francisco.
