Insult to injury: Eagles QB Nick Foles just beat Tom Brady, Again
Nick Foles joined Eli Manning on the list of Tom Brady killers when his Philadelphia Eagles won a shootout in the Super Bowl 41-33.
And it turns out that Foles isn’t just Brady’s vanquisher on the football field either. He’s winning in every aspect of football life.
The NFL Players’ Association released its list of top-selling jerseys for the quarter between March 1 and May 31, and the top three are Foles, Brady, and Foles’ Eagles teammate Carson Wentz.
Brady should probably just count his blessings that he lost to just one Eagles guy and not two.
Foles also got a chance to give a speech at the ESPYs this week after he won the ESPY for Best Championship Performance.
At the ESPYs, Foles said, “It’s so much fun to go to work in that locker room every single day. I couldn’t have done it without y’all. I mean, we see what happens. We won the first Super Bowl in Philadelphia history.”
Because Foles will be backing up Wentz now that Wentz is back from the injury that sidelined him late last season, the Eagles have the combination of bench depth and — should they decide to use Foles as an asset to plug a team weakness — trade flexibility that every team in sports loves to have on their side.”
And while Jim Kelly may have had the speech everyone’s going to remember Wednesday night, Foles gave a pretty good one as well.

Patriots fans have spent the offseason pointing to what they see as a big old sheaf of bulletin board fodder that the Eagles and the city of Philadelphia have provided them.
And for Brady, who turns 41 on August 3, as he gets older, he gets no less competitive.
Losing a Super Bowl should by itself be enough to motivate him.
But losing a battle on the merchandise charts and being decisively proven not to be the most popular player in the league?
For a fame-seeker like Brady with his supermodel wife and “TB12” workout program and all the trappings of celebrity, that’s got to hurt.
Meanwhile, the Eagles have to look at how they’re going to build on their success now that a quarterback controversy might be all but inevitable if Wentz doesn’t find his form early in the season.
Fans might be quicker to call for Foles, especially if they’re wearing that No. 9 jersey they bought between March and May.
With the regular season less than two months away, it’s just a matter of time before all this gets settled the only place it truly can: on the actual football field.
