NFL superstar attacked for posting pro-Second Amendment Father's Day gift
For every terrible NFL story you hear about players like Michael Bennett allegedly assaulting an elderly person, Ray Rice punching his fiancee and Greg Hardy just generally being a terrible human being, it’s nice to be reminded that there are some legitimately good people in the league.
Case in point, Arizona Cardinals star running back David Johnson has been a model citizen who espouses powerful Christian beliefs frequently on both podcasts and his Twitter account.
Unsurprisingly, Johnson was unceremoniously raked over the coals when he dared to espouse his belief in the Second Amendment on his Twitter.

Johnson took to Twitter to thank his family for a Father’s Day gift, an act in and of itself that should be completely innocuous. But due to the frenzied disdain for gun owners in today’s political climate, Johnson was taken to task for daring to thank his family.

It’s a sad commentary on the current state of affairs that a law-abiding citizen, who has never been in the headlines for running afoul of the law, is being attacked for being gifted a gun.
Johnson, for his part, has taken the high road and not responded to the internet trolls. Again, that’s to be expected from Johnson, who has always had a certain graciousness that seems lacking from many modern NFL talents.
Even when Johnson missed all of last season with a freak wrist injury, he handled it with class by citing his faith.
“Spiritually-wise, no, I wasn’t mad at God or anything,” Johnson said on the Sports Spectrum Podcast when asked if he had any frustrations spiritually about breaking his wrist.
“I really was just upset at myself. I think the biggest thing, I was more upset (with) the fumble I had.”
Johnson elaborated on just how strong his faith is.
“I’m blessed and I thank God for giving me this platform, for giving me the ability and the skill to play in this league. I try not to get down on God. If it wasn’t for Him, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
Johnson also opened up about how his faith began growing at a young age and really grew in college.
“It was my second year in college where I started really focusing in on what God has done, what Jesus has done for us and learning more about him. And really letting God take my life,” Johnson said.
It’s readily apparent that Johnson has his head on right.
Johnson fecently reported for Cardinals training camp after a lengthy holdout in mini-camp over ongoing contract negotiations.

If Johnson is as quality of a human being as he seems to be, it should be a no-brainer for the Cardinals to pay that man.
