Tebow Gives Rare Glimpse into Personal Life, Reveals 5 Favorite Things in His Home
Saying that Tim Tebow is a busy man would be a vast understatement.
When he’s not doing charity work through his Tim Tebow Foundation, he’s doing everything he can to create magic for his biggest fans.
Oh, and there’s also the small matter of his burgeoning baseball career, which looks amazingly close to taking the next big step.
But for all of Tebow’s public exploits, the former football star has always been rather mum about his private life.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, of course, but it still felt like teeth were being pulled when people were clamoring to know more about his new girlfriend. Given Tebow’s magnetic personality, it’s hard to blame his fans for at least being curious.
In light of Tebow’s generally private nature, it was a pleasant surprise to see that he gave a rare glimpse into his home in an interview with Barron’s. He discussed his five favorite things in his home.
Perhaps the least surprising thing — but one of the most important things given his powerful Christian faith — that Tebow brought up was his childhood Bible.
“I’m a nostalgic person, and the tattered Bible I used as a child means a lot to me,” Tebow said. From the way he described it, Tebow certainly got quite a bit of mileage out of that Bible.
“It has so many notes scribbled in between the pages — notes from sermons, memories. I probably got it in fifth or sixth grade and used it through college,” he added.
Another meaningful item that Tebow cited was a necklace from jewelry maker David Yurnam.
“My oldest brother, Robby, gave it to me when he named me the godfather of his son, Liam,” Tebow said. “On one side there’s a lion, and on the other it says ‘godfather and protector.’ He chose a lion because it’s a protector. It was very meaningful and emotional when he gave it to me.”
Another cherished family memory that Tebow lists as one of his favorite things in his house is a picture with his mother.
“A photo of me and my mom was taken after we won the national championship (with the University of Florida football team) in 2008. I went to go see her in the stands. I could reach up and grab her hand. My coach gave (the photo) to me,” Tebow described.
Not everything is overtly meaningful, however. Tebow also talked about how much loves Christmas decorations.
“I love Christmas decorations. This is not a joke, and I’m not exaggerating,” Tebow explained. “Today, during my workout, I was listening to Christmas music. I’m a Christmas junkie. I love that it represents the greatest gift of all time, and that we get to give gifts. In my house in Colorado, I had five trees — the one in my room was all white. My home was decorated for Christmas before Thanksgiving last year.”
But as a huge dog lover, perhaps none of the listed items — save for the childhood Bible — hit as close to home for me as the picture of Tebow’s childhood dog, Otis.
“There’s a picture of me and Otis, my dog from when I was growing up, after a baseball all-star game,” Tebow said. “We don’t have a lot of photos of stuff from my childhood, because we didn’t have iPhones then or anything. This one is special — it has the sports connection, my dog who I loved so much. I love my dog now, of course, but he still has to catch up to Otis.”
Tebow posted that very photo to his Instagram account in 2015.

Tebow, who is rehabbing from a hand injury that cut his baseball season short this year, has been plenty busy with various television projects.
He should be ready to go when spring training begins next season, and I cannot wait.
