'Will & Grace' Actress Apologizes After Her Feminist Cupcakes Offend Trans Women
“Social justice warriors” seem to have acquired a taste for disturbing cupcakes … but more and more, they’re also turning and eating each other.
International Women’s Day, which took place on March 8, is supposed to be about celebrating the accomplishments of women around the world. Mothers, governors, leaders, astronauts: There are definitely a lot of noble ladies who deserve recognition.
What they don’t deserve, however, is to be seen as nothing but sexual objects and turned into a bad joke. Yet that’s essentially what oh-so-progressive Hollywood star Debra Messing just did.
On Friday, the outspoken liberal actress from “Will & Grace” appeared to literally objectify women when she posted, well, female genitalia cupcakes on her official Instagram account.
“Happy International Women’s Day! Powerful, beautiful, and sweet,” the actress declared next to photos of vagina-themed cakes.

That by itself was pretty twisted, especially when you consider that women have struggled for centuries to be taken seriously and not be seen as walking genitalia. But then it got even more strange — or hilarious, depending on your point of view.
Messing was quickly scolded for not being “woke” enough with her sexualized snacks. Facing backlash because the post didn’t go far enough with social justice, the far-left actress edited her post and issued a groveling apology.
“I want to apologize to my trans sisters,” she posted. “This photo was supposed to be light, & sassy. The first thing I thought when I saw this photo was ‘wow how wonderful.’ Each one is unique in color and shape and size.”
Yes, it seems the problem with the “vagina cupcakes” wasn’t that they were crass, but instead that transgender people were angry because they want to spread the belief that some women don’t have vaginas.
“The porn industry has perpetuated this myth of what a ‘beautiful’ vagina looks like and as a result there are women who feel shame or insecure about the shape of the vulva,” Messing continued as the post became even more cringe-worthy.
“I did not, however, think ‘but there are innumerable beautiful, unique and powerful women who don’t have a vagina. And I SHOULD have. And for that I am so so sorry,” the actress wrote. (Emphasis added.)
Let’s cut to the chase: Men are not women. Even if someone — like Messing — is accepting of the transgender lifestyle, it’s simply not accurate to pretend that vagina-less biological men are suddenly female. Ironically, this detracts from real women on a day meant to hold them up and recognize them.
In fact, there’s a strong case to be made that transgender people are increasingly stealing the spotlight from deserving women. This is happening right now in athletics, where biological men are competing as women … and against women.
Not surprisingly, they have a bit of an unfair advantage, and are taking medals — “winning” sounds a bit generous — from actual female competitors.
“I have nothing against anyone who wishes to be transgender,” Olympic medalist Sharron Davies recently wrote.
“However I believe there is a fundamental difference between the binary sex you are born with & the gender you may identify as. To protect women’s sport those with a male sex advantage should not be able to compete in women’s sport,” she posted on Twitter. (Edited for spelling.)
Finally, there’s the problem so clearly illustrated by Messing’s post and desperate apology: The far left is never satisfied.
Their social justice crusade never ends. When even a liberal Hollywood actress must apologize to the mob for attempting to be feminist, nobody can win.
It’s a constantly moving set of goalposts, with every day more “progressive” than the last until words lose meaning and liberals turn on themselves.
It would all be a bit hilarious, if it wasn’t also tearing our culture and society apart.
