World Left Gushing After Incredible Single Mom Crowned Pageant Winner

Share

Being a young mom is difficult in this day and age. Being a young, single mom is more difficult — and being a working young mom? Practically superhero status.

Not everyone considers the pageant circuit “work,” but have you ever tried to maintain flawless physique, makeup, hair and attire? It may not be a desk job, but it certainly requires a high level of determination, skill and work.

Eileen Gonzales, who has spent years getting to know the pageant world and has competed in multiple events, was just crowned Miss Global Philippines.

It’s not her first time vying for the title: Back in 2014 she participated but finished third. It didn’t discourage her, though, and 2018 proved to be her year.

The 22-year-old not only won the highly esteemed title, she was also recognized as the “Darling of the Press.”

As part of her winnings, she won over $5,500 in cash and the same amount in fine jewelry. This win means big things ahead for her and her family.

Not only did she woo the judges, the viewers and the press, she’s also a single mom who adores her son. In fact, according to Inquirer.net, she’s the first single mom to win this competition.

“These past couple of months have challenged me both mentally and physically in ways I never thought I could overcome,” she wrote on Facebook. “I’ve learned so much more about myself and my self confidence has grown immensely.”

“The sacrifices I made and (hard work) I put in to be able to stand and perform on that stage were well worth it. I’ve never been more proud to be a strong and beautiful Filipina and I will forever take everything I’ve gained from this experience with where ever I go.”

She posted about the experience on Facebook, making sure to thank everyone who’s helped her in her journey to this prestigious title. Of course, that meant her family, too.

“Speaking of family, much love and appreciation to my mama Novie Montuerto who stood by me through ups and down and extended her stay here in philippines just to support me, I love you so much ma!”

“Also to everyone who voted for me, my daddy Edmon Montuerto, Moye, friends, siblings, relatives, thank you so much!”

But she couldn’t leave out a crucial part of her life and her biggest motivating factor: her son.

“And of course, my lucky charm… My baby, Zohan Miguel Gonzales Santos, you are my source of inspiration. Thank you for making me a better person, you’ve taught me a lot. Para sayo to, anak.”

“And lastly, I am not where I am today if not because of our Creator. Lord God, thank you for all the blessings you’ve given me. All of this is for you. I’m bringing back all the glory to you.”

Gonzales looks forward to more competitions and events in the future — and based on how she’s done so far, she’s got a lot of great things ahead!
