ATF Investigating Dem. Candidate for Breaking Law With AR-15 Protest

Share

Ah, the AR-15. You can pretty much blame it for anything from mass shootings to measles. However, things get more tricky when you’re dealing with “well-meaning” Democrats.

Ok, here’s the genesis of this hilarious tale: Democrat congressional candidate Karen Mallard tried to show just how dangerous guns were. And, in doing so, she broke the law,

The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is investigating Mallard after she posted a video Wednesday to Facebook of herself sawing off the barrel of her husband’s rifle, WVEC reported.

See, here’s the thing: Mallard decided to destroy her husband’s rifle in one of those ridiculous displays of viralness uselessness frustration with gun laws.

“So today, we’re going to destroy it,” Mallard — a school teacher and Democrat running for Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District — said in the protest video.

Unfortunately, the way she destroyed it may have been illegal.

“The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is investigating Mallard after she posted a video Wednesday on Facebook of herself sawing off the barrel of her husband’s rifle,” according to The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Well, that’s problematic.

I find it oddly ironic that a gun-grabber determined to pass more laws to make more people criminals doesn’t actually know the laws that have been passed already and thus breaks them, making her a criminal.

I took a personal stand for gun safety and I’m not backing down. A staffer took down this video to try to protect me from these vicious comments, but I’m not the one that needs protection our children do.

And yes for all the NRA trolls out there, I finished the job according to regulation and turned it over to the police. Why are you more outraged about me taking a gun out of circulation than about our children being murdered in our schools?

Thanks for listening and sharing. We need gun reform now. #SafeguardOurChildren

That’s not even irony at this point. That’s plain stupidity.

Do you think this Democrat should be charged?

We live in a society where ostentatiously coming out against any sort of firearm is considered socially acceptable. Yet, we also live in a society where our laws dealing with firearms are patently ridiculous.

“I took a personal stand for gun safety and I’m not backing down. A staffer took down this video to try to protect me from these vicious comments, but I’m not the one that needs protection our children do,” Karen Mallard, this profoundly uninformed woman, tells us.

“And yes for all the NRA trolls out there, I finished the job according to regulation and turned it over to the police. Why are you more outraged about me taking a gun out of circulation than about our children being murdered in our schools?”

And yet, you broke the law. I assume you turned yourself in at the local police station. Right, Ms. Mallard?

Now, granted, the “penalty” I discovered on the website of the Cellino and Barnes of the West Coast indicates she would only pay a $250 fine for the infraction. But this is entirely the point — if this is important enough to legislate, it’s more important than a low-end Xbox One. And if not, don’t do it.

Please like and share this story on Facebook and Twitter if you think this woman’s video was ridiculous.
