Bloomberg-Backed Anti-Gun Group Appears to Support Outlawing All Rifles, Shotguns

“Nobody wants to take your guns. Stop exaggerating.”

There’s a good chance you’ve heard this line or some variation of it during the last month, as the national debate on gun rights heats up.

Voices on the left have repeatedly insisted that they’re not actually against the Second Amendment, and that the “bitter clinger” gun owners are over-reacting to liberal “common sense” gun laws.

But just how “common sense” is the push to curtail gun ownership, and are conservatives really over-reacting?

One look at a tweet from NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch reveals the answer: By their own admission, the most prominent gun control advocates are against nearly every firearm made in the last century, and their proposals are based on either ignorance or deception.

On Friday, Loesch posted two screenshots from Shannon Watts’ Twitter account. Watts is the founder of “Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense,” an innocent-sounding group that pushes sweeping gun control.

She also sits on the board of “Everytown for Gun Safety,” another gun control lobbying group which is bankrolled by billionaire Michael Bloomberg and known to skew facts.

In this gun control advocate’s own words, what is the actual “common sense” objective of the left?

Do you believe banning all modern guns is the left's goal?

Dana Loesch pointed out a stunning fact. “Moms Demand defines all guns as ‘assault weapons’ and wants to ban ‘assault weapons.’ You do the math,” she wrote. (Emphasis added.)

Then came the screenshots. “An assault weapon enables humans to shoot 10 rounds in one minute,” Shannon Watts declared in a tweet.

Ten rounds in a minute — that’s the definition of an “assault weapon” to the left. Let’s be extremely clear: That includes nearly every gun manufactured in the last 100 years.

Ten rounds in a minute is a slow, leisurely six seconds per shot. A lever-action cowboy gun does that, easily. So does an Old West six-shooter.

Even a single-shot hunting shotgun can do this with basic practice, being opened and reloaded after each shot.

Remember, this isn’t a random leftist spouting off on Twitter. Watts sit on the board of one of the most powerful gun control lobbying groups in the nation, and is the spokesperson for the liberal anti-gun movement.

So we know that by the left’s own definition, even your grandfather’s old Winchester is an “assault weapon.” Keep that in mind as you read Shannon Watt’s next tweet:

“Prohibit the sale of assault weapons,” she declared.

“Congress should take action to prohibit the sale of the most dangerous semi-automatic firearms,” she lectured.

There it is in black and white. “Dangerous semi-automatic firearms” are without question on the chopping block, but they don’t stop there. Any gun which meets the arbitrary definition of shooting ten rounds in a minute is in the sights of gun-grabbers. Again, this was admitted in their own words.

Semi-automatic firearms, of course, are the most common type of gun used by law-abiding citizens today. Women use them for self defense. Families use them for sport and home protection. And how dangerous are they?

Statistically, not very. According to the FBI, semi-automatic rifles are actually used fairly rarely in crimes.

“The most recent FBI data shows that in 2016, there were 374 murders committed using rifles in the entire United States. That includes so-called ‘assault rifles,'” we reported earlier this week.

“However, a stunning 1,604 murders were committed using knives or cutting weapons. Even hands, fists, and feet were used to kill more often than rifles: Criminals committed 656 murders using just their body.”

Watts no doubt defines an assault fist as any hand capable of striking more than ten times in a minute. Ban hands now!

Based on prominent liberals’ own words on gun control, there are only two possibilities. Either gun control advocates like Watts are incredibly ignorant about firearms and gun statistics… or they do know what they’re saying, but are purposely trying to deceive the public for an agenda.

Think about it: Anyone who has taken a basic gun safety course, a hunter safety class, or has even watched black and white cowboy movies from half a century ago knows that every modern firearm can fire faster than Watts’ definition. So is she actually that dense, or is there something more underhanded at play?

Meanwhile, the mainstream media refuses to call liberals out or do even basic fact-checking on the rantings of Watts, Hogg, and all the rest. Does nobody at CNN know how firearms work? Even a 30-second Google search would reveal how out of touch these statements are.

The left and the media — but we repeat ourselves — either do not care about facts, or are purposely running cover for opponents of the Second Amendment. Both prospects are chilling.
