Major Ingredient in Ben and Jerry's 'Resist' Ice Cream Declared Racist by Leftists

Share

The problem with deciding to get political with your products or services is sometimes it can go too far and come back to bite you in the rear. Case in point: Ben & Jerry’s.

Known for their catchy flavor names, they also have gotten political with their product. Recently they introduced their new “Pecan Resist” flavor. They explained that “This flavor supports groups creating a more just and equitable nation for us all, and who are fighting President Trump’s regressive agenda.”

Pecan Resist” is “Chocolate ice cream with white & dark fudge chunks, pecans, walnuts & fudge-covered almonds.”

The company elaborated further on their website about their politicization of the flavor combo, writing, “together, we can build a more just and equitable tomorrow. We can peacefully resist the Trump administration’s regressive and discriminatory policies and build a future that values inclusivity, equality, and justice for people of color, women, the LGBTQ community, refugees, and immigrants.”

The flavor also “supports” four groups, including Women’s Match, Color of Change, Honor the Earth, and Neta.

But perhaps they should rename it “Pecan Racist,” because according to animal welfare activist group PETA, a main ingredient included in the flavor is exactly that — racist. In March 2017, PETA wrote that “dairy milk has long been embraced as a symbol of white supremacy.”

Can you say, “oops!?” The ice cream company’s fight against the president all-too-frequently labeled as a “white supremacist” actually uses a “white supremacist ingredient” as a major component of their product(s).

Do you think "Pecan Resist" is racist?

PETA also claimed in their article that “Geneticists are alarmed that white nationalists—who are now using milk emojis and sharing photos of themselves chugging milk to celebrate their “whiteness”—are contorting science and using it as an excuse to hate.” Does that mean that anyone sharing photos online of them with “Pecan Resist” is “celebrating their whiteness?”

Perhaps because it is a “limited time flavor” it somehow makes them less racist? It is doubtful that reasoning would work if it were a right-leaning company.

Back in 2016, Jonah Goldberg wrote for the New York Post that “not everything is racist.” Among the things he listed that the left has deemed racist were math, the Electoral College, being white, and even condemning racism.

Noted founder of psychoanalysis Sigmund Freud might have agreed, because he has been attributed with saying that “sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.” Perhaps — like so many other things falsely labeled as “racist” by the left — milk is, in fact, just milk.

Of course, that logic would invalidate PETA’s claim and let Ben & Jerry’s off the hook. But it would also be a move in the right direction toward logic and reason in a climate that is all-too-often irrational and extreme.
