CNN's Chris Cuomo Claims Trump Tweet Proves He 'Hates' America

Share

The CNN network is arguably President Donald Trump’s most vehement detractor among the liberal media, and host Chris Cuomo is arguably the most overly dramatic member of that network’s collection of anti-Trump anchors, commentators and pundits.

According to The Washington Times, Cuomo seemingly set out to prove that dubious distinction with an Orwellian “two minutes of hate” style rant to end his “Cuomo Prime Time” program on Thursday as he ripped into a tweet from Trump that he claimed proved the president “hates” America.

Trump’s tweet on Thursday had been in regard to the blatantly over-the-top negative reaction of the liberal media to remarks he had made — and failed to make — during a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin following their summit in Helsinki, Finland, on Monday.

Trump tweeted, “The Summit with Russia was a great success, except with the real enemy of the people, the Fake News Media. I look forward to our second meeting so that we can start implementing some of the many things discussed, including stopping terrorism, security for Israel, nuclear……..”

A follow-up tweet from the president finished that message: “….proliferation, cyber attacks, trade, Ukraine, Middle East peace, North Korea and more. There are many answers, some easy and some hard, to these problems…but they can ALL be solved!”

The entirety of Trump’s two-part tweet made it abundantly clear that the president is focused on finding solutions to a number of pressing issues facing this nation that require a level of cooperation and coordination with Russia to properly address them.

But it would appear that Cuomo was unable or unwilling to read or comprehend anything beyond the first line of the first tweet, which referenced the “fake news media” as an “enemy of the people,” which formed the basis of his “two minutes of hate” anti-Trump rant Thursday evening.

“This is ugly and it is unoriginal,” proclaimed Cuomo in his self-righteous address aimed at the president. “Most importantly, it is an admission that you hate your country.”

Do you simply laugh dismissively at sanctimonious anti-Trump rants from media figures like Chris Cuomo?

“You know this phrase was an operative threat to murder opposition in the French Revolution, right?” asked Cuomo. “You know (Soviet Premier Nikita) Khrushchev identified the phrase as part of a campaign to annihilate individuals, literally, who disagreed with the supreme leader? His predecessor Stalin used it specifically with artists and thinkers that threatened his narrow views of humanity. Did you know that (Chinese communist dictator) Mao (Zedong) used it during his murderous campaigns?”

“America, the country you lead, was formed in defiance of strongmen, bullies and the idea that might makes right. A free press is a metaphor for what makes America great,” he continued. “So you have no admitted that you are against what we are all about.”

Cuomo then suggested that it was up to Trump to now prove to the American people that he doesn’t actually hate the country he was elected to lead, and he utterly dismissed prior remarks from the president that he doesn’t “hate” all journalists or media outlets and questioned the sincerity of Trump’s response to the murder of several reporters at a newspaper office in Maryland, as if he personally can see inside Trump’s heart and know his true thoughts, feelings and motives.

“To say Putin isn’t the enemy but the free press is doesn’t worry me, I know the truth,” asserted Cuomo, as he suggested that a free press is the only thing that keeps dictators like Stalin and Mao at bay. “The real worry should be for you. Do you think the people will keep a president who hates what their country is all about?”

Chris Cuomo’s anti-Trump rant, in which he asserted that Trump hates America because he “hates” a free press, is patently absurd and a ridiculous misinterpretation of a mere part of a tweet from the president that explicitly decried the “fake news media,” of which Cuomo and CNN are clearly a part.

To be fair, Trump and his tweets are fair game for criticism, but to suggest that Trump “hates America” or the “free press” because he is at times a bit harsh and mean toward overtly biased reporters and media outlets that routinely lie and promote “fake news” about him is going a bit too far. It is nothing less than alarmist pablum that should be mocked and ridiculed by the rest of us who can read entire tweets and understand the context of Trump’s remarks.
