Breaking: MSNBC Host Hired Neo-Nazi Affiliated Cyber Expert to Prove She Isn't Hateful

For many politicians, the best defense is a good offense.

It keeps the opposition on their toes and keeps your side cheering.

But for MSNBC’s Joy Reid apparently, the best defense is to get more offensive.

That’s one of the lessons that can be drawn from who the strident liberal of MSNBC’s “AM Joy” turned to when she needed help proving she’s doesn’t really have anything against gay people, despite a documented history of anti-homosexual remarks.

According to the liberal website Mediaite, which first broke the news of viciously anti-gay posts on Reid’s old blog, the MSNBC star hired a cyber expert with close ties to one of the country’s best known white supremacists to make her case.

The expert is named Jonathan Nichols. According to Mediaite, Nichols locked down his Twitter account after NBC released a statement about his work on the Reid case, possibly because he knew reporters were going to be looking into his own past for skeletons in the closet.

Turns out, they would have found a few.

According to Mediaite, searches of Nichols’ post at the internet archive services Archive.is and the Way Back Machine turned up posts that show Nichols had a more than passing familiarity with Andrew “weev” Auernheimer.

For those who don’t follow white supremacist or cyber news, Auernheimer is an infamous hacker who spent a year in prison for harvesting personal customer information from an AT&T website, according to Wired.

He’s also an exceptionally vicious anti-Semite and white supremacist who, Newsweek reports, also happens to be at least partly Jewish, with Jewish relatives on both sides of his family.

Reid’s hired computer expert, Nichols, was not only present for Auernheimer’s release from prison, he was key to making sure Auernheimer’s followers were kept up to date on what was happening — and bragged about it.

“Like are most of you aware that I NOT ONLY know Andrew (stromfront admin), but I was the principal element livetweeting his release from [prison],” Nichols tweeted on Dec. 9, 2017, according to Mediaite. “If you try REALLY HARD you’ll see that I’m connected to the leadership of [Stormfront]. If you try just a bit harder you’ll figure it out.”

As Mediaite noted, Nichols apparently mixed up his white supremacist websites here, since Auernheimer is not the administrator for Stormfront, the “voice of the new, embattled White minority,” but actually runs The Daily Stormer (a stomach-turning collection of racist bile if ever there was one.)

According to Mediaite, Nichols now claims he didn’t know anything about Auernheimer’s racial views when he went to the coming-home party.

Maybe. And maybe Reid didn’t know anything about Nichols’ apparently fanboy relationship with one of the most prominent neo-Nazis of the cyberworld when she hired him.

And maybe — just maybe — Reid’s old posts from more than a decade ago, where she makes remarks that are now considered unacceptable by the far-left base that makes up MSNBC viewership, really were created by some mysterious third party bent making Reid look bad.

As left-wing journalist Glenn Greenwald put it in a skeptical column about the case, “pretty much anything’s possible.”

(It’s especially possible when dealing with someone like Reid, who besides being agressively liberal, has never been known to be the sharpest tool in the shed.)

But one thing is clear for Reid anyway: She might have thought she was offering her best defense, but she was only getting more offensive.
