New Stats From American Border Agents Prove They’re Loving Life Right Now

Border Patrol agents have one mission: To protect the American people by acting as the first line of defense along the nation’s perimeter.

For years, the previous presidential administration tied the hands of those agents and made it almost impossible for them to do their jobs.

If new statistics are any indication, however, those days are over — and the Border Patrol is finally able to carry out the mission they signed up to do.

According to Breitbart News, the number of apprehensions along the U.S. and Mexico border has gone up for the fourth month in a row.

“In August, Border Patrol agents apprehended 22,293 illegal aliens who crossed the southwestern border from Mexico,” reported Breitbart. “This is up from July’s total of 18,190 and represents an increase of 22.56 percent, according to information obtained from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.”

Border Patrol agents are detaining dramatically more illegal aliens, which means fewer criminals entering the country.

The long-term numbers also show an important connection between the Obama-era DACA program and illegal border crossings.

“Following then-President Obama’s implementation of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program in June 2012, the number of apprehensions, particularly of [Unaccompanied Alien Children and Family Unit Aliens], began to steadily increase in every year except 2014,” explained the report.

“Those numbers peaked in November of 2016 when a total of 63,362 illegal aliens were either arrested after crossing the border illegally or were determined to be inadmissible by CBP officials,” Breitbart continued.

In other words, DACA acted as a magnet which attracted a flood of illegal aliens who attempted the cross the border. Many of them were at-risk children sent on the dangerous journey alone. Those numbers finally dropped once Trump won the 2016 election.

Based on that data, it seems likely that President Trump’s decision to end DACA will help cut down on the number of aliens trying to enter the United States illegally.

After years of frustration, Border Patrol personnel finally have a president who has their back… and that’s a “win” for the American people.
