Watch: Tomi Lahren Gushes Praise for D'Souza's 'Death of a Nation'

The world premiere of Dinesh D’Souza’s “Death of a Nation” was this week, and Tomi Lahren counts herself as a big fan.
During a red carpet interview with The Western Journal at the event in Los Angeles, the Fox News contributor and former host at The Blaze gushed praise for the film and talked about the possibility of a changing political landscape out in California.
“I’m always impressed, and I always believe in being bold and honest and authentic,” Lahren said.
“And that’s what Dinesh does.”
She also applauded the choice of Los Angeles — an unusual place, given the scorn that Hollywood has (unsurprisingly) heaped upon the film — for the premiere.
“I think it’s great to bring it to LA,” Lahren said of the film, which compares the election of Abraham Lincoln to that of Donald Trump and points out the racist history of the Democrats.
“It’s great to expose this coast to something they might not have seen before, and the rest of the country. I think it’s important to watch. It’s important to know your history — or you’re doomed to repeat it, right?”
Asked about spending more time in California, Lahren noted she was currently a resident of the state — and that she sees the political landscape changing.
“Well, I live here now. As they say, behind enemy lines,” she quipped.
“What I notice about being in California, living in California, is there are so many conservatives here who have a voice but they would like to have more of a voice,” she continued.
“And I think it’s us getting out there, being vocal, making films like this (that’s) going to encourage people to really take charge, find their voice and do that.”
That, Lahren said, is why she thinks “you’re going to see a big shift in California in the coming years.”
“We have a real opportunity here,” she concluded.
Of course, D’Souza’s film has earned the ire of both the industry and film critics — as The Hollywood Reporter notes, it currently has a zero percent rating on aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, which is probably a sign it’s doing something right.
It’s also the first of D’Souza’s documentaries to open to a national audience, however, which is an unusual move unless you’re expecting big box office returns.
And D’Souza should. Currently, he holds three of the spots on the top 10 grossing political documentaries of all time for “America,” “2016: Obama’s America” and “Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party.”
With “Death of a Nation,” you can likely expect to see another entry on that list.
