Ex-WH Press Sec: FBI Wouldn't Have Planted Informant Without Getting WH Permission

Share

Former President Barack Obama has claimed that he “didn’t have scandals” during his time as president … but of course a list from Benghazi to Fast and Furious to IRS targeting begs to differ.

The 44th president may have thought he had escaped public scrutiny after leaving the White House. However, a stunning scandal that is being compared to Watergate may lead right back to his Oval Office.

Major news publications including The New York Times have revealed that the Obama-era FBI, under former Director James Comey, embedded “moles” or informants in then-candidate Donald Trump’s campaign.

While Comey has insisted that this was necessary and legal, a growing pile of evidence suggests that it pushed the limits of legality, and may have been purposely intended to undermine Trump’s run.

If a government law enforcement agency was purposely being used as a tool of political suppression by a president against his rivals, it would indeed make Watergate look quaint … and one former White House insider believes that’s exactly what happened.

On Thursday, former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer declared that it is almost a certainty that Obama knew there were FBI moles infiltrating the Trump campaign, and the president most likely approved of the plan.

“We need to know why did it begin, who authorized it and what role did Barack Obama have,” Fleischer, who became a well-known face of the George W. Bush administration after 9/11, said Thursday on Fox News’ “Outnumbered.”

“Did he know the FBI had informants there? I’ll guarantee you the answer is yes,” the former press secretary continued.

Fleischer held nothing back in his assessment of the scandal. “No FBI would put informants in another presidential campaign without permission from the White House, including the president,” he stated.

Do you think Obama knew of and approved spying on Trump's campaign?

President Donald Trump, while not yet pointing a finger at Obama, made it clear that he sees top FBI officials including Comey as responsible for the political spy scandal.

“Clapper has now admitted that there was Spying in my campaign,” he wrote on Twitter, referring to former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.

“Large dollars were paid to the Spy, far beyond normal. Starting to look like one of the biggest political scandals in U.S. history. SPYGATE – a terrible thing!” Trump continued.

The president drew a line of separation between the rank and file at the FBI and the corrupt leaders at the top.

“Not surprisingly, the GREAT Men & Women of the FBI are starting to speak out against Comey, McCabe and all of the political corruption and poor leadership found within the top ranks of the FBI,” Trump wrote.

“Comey was a terrible and corrupt leader who inflicted great pain on the FBI!” he declared.

Much ink has been spilled comparing this emerging scandal to Watergate, with even the name “Spygate” of course being an allusion to the Nixon presidency.

In many ways, this scandal could be far more serious, however. One fact that is often overlooked is that Richard Nixon didn’t actually know about the break-in at DNC headquarters at Watergate until after it happened. He was brought down for helping cover it up, not planning it.

If Obama truly knew about and authorized the improper use of government agents to spy on and undermine an opposing campaign, he could have more guilt on his hands than even the infamous Nixon.

Much more information needs to come out before we have a full picture of this incident, but if nothing else, Obama’s claim of being “scandal-free” has been exposed as a total sham.

The American people deserve answers, and it’s time for the full truth to emerge.
