Dad Being Recorded Tells 3-Month-Old to Say 'Hello.' Shocked When Baby Actually Does

Share

You’ve got to admit it. Practically every parent, everywhere, believes their child is a prodigy in some respect.

Okay, maybe when it comes to teenagers, that’s not necessarily the case. It’s tough to feel awed by your offspring when they’re leaving open orange juice cartons all over the kitchen counter.

It’s even harder to be impressed when your intrepid adolescent attempts to ride a sofa cushion down the stairs, or tries to text while crossing a traffic-clogged intersection.

Social media is filled with head-scratching examples like these, and they could easily occupy their own separate article.

But babies — babies are a different story altogether. One look at those shining blue eyes and adorably chubby cheeks, and most moms and dads are convinced this kid is going to be some sort of genius.

Of course, at that particular age little ones are usually busy dirtying Pampers and drooling pureed pumpkin down their chins.

So of course, everyone understands that the development of this exceptional intelligence is going to take some time.

All this makes it especially entertaining to run across a miniature intellect that seems bound for Mensa membership. At least, that’s what one astonished father might have been thinking during a charming “conversation” with his newborn son.

Tom Webster, 28, was recently clowning around with baby Jenson at their home in Leicester, England. Mom Laura decided to capture a quick video of their family game time together.

Laura told media outlets that they often say words to Jenson as a teaching exercise, and encourage the 3-month-old to repeat them back. During this particular tiny tot lesson, Dad picked the word “hello.”

“Hellooooo,” cooed the proud papa to Jenson. Initially, the amused little guy responded with a series of sweet chirps and giggles.

So Tom decided to try a few more practice runs. “Say hello,” he prompted; and the prattling Jenson volleyed back an energetic squeak.

They say the third time’s the charm, and Jenson definitely did not disappoint. Because on his very next try, the clever tot produced a focused grunt that morphed right into the magic word — no question about it.

Father Tom was absolutely floored. “Get out,” he gasped, looking wide-eyed at the camera, “that’s gotta be a fluke!”

Little Jenson, for his part, lay snuggled in his blue-striped onesy looking utterly content yet humble.

But those of us watching on social media know that “smart plus handsome” is a pretty enthralling combination at any age.
