Infuriating Video Shows Dem Rep Park Her Car, Get No-Parking Notice, Then Blame Helpless Staffer

Members of Congress are supposed to serve residents of their district first and foremost.

That means listening to their concerns, attending town hall meetings and generally being looking out for their interests.

It also means — and this should go without saying — not parking illegally on your constituents’ property.

But Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan apparently didn’t get the memo, according to the Washington Free Beacon.

“Slotkin was in Mason, Michigan, for a town hall event at Bestseller Books and Coffee, but she parked her car on the property of the Sports Stop, a screen printing and embroidery business,” the Free Beacon reported.

“When she left the town hall there was a note left on her car that read, ‘You can’t park here, Sports Stop ONLY!'”

Watch below. The video starts with Slotkin getting out of her car after parking:

Now, after returning to her car and seeing the note, Slotkin didn’t dispute she had parked illegally.

Should Slotkin treat her staff better?

But what she did do might have been even worse.

“So I’ll leave that to you,” she said, picking up the note and giving it to a female staffer.

“Why don’t you go personally apologize.”

“We have to be a little bit tighter on our events guys,” Slotkin told her staff. “I want to know the plan, I want to know the parking.”

Of course, it wasn’t her staff’s fault that Slotkin was careless enough to park illegally on her constituent’s property.

“We didn’t know who it was, we were just irritated that somebody parked in our spot,” a Sports Shop employee named Erin told the Free Beacon.

“Four of us work here and we only get three parking spots. It gets irritating for us to have to now go find another parking spot because somebody took our parking spot.”

That didn’t seem to matter to Slotkin. Because if she really cared about what happened, she would have apologized in person.

But that doesn’t appear to have happened, according to Erin.

“Somebody came over and said they were sorry for parking there,” Erin told the Free Beacon. “A lady named Samantha, she’s the one who came and said sorry.”

All in all, not a good look for the Michigan Democrat.
