Jim Kelly's final public message before cancer surgery is one everybody should see
It may be a cliché, but it’s also true.
There weren’t many football players tougher than former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly.
But what the Hall of Famer did on the field is nothing compared to what he’s dealing with off of it.
Kelly was set to undergo surgery major jaw surgery on Wednesday, his latest challenge in a relentless battle with cancer.
As The Wildcard told readers earlier this month, the Bills great needed to have his upper jaw removed and reconstructed after the disease returned.
Kelly is a man of strong faith, and Tuesday, he took to Instagram to acknowledge that “God is good,” no matter what.

“Me and my family, as we head out, we know that you got our back,” Kelly told his fans. “I know that we only look to one place, and that’s the good Lord for everything we’ve received. And I know this is just the start of something great.
“The bottom line is you make a difference today for someone who is fighting for tomorrow, and my tomorrow is coming tomorrow. So keep praying, and thank you very much.”
As one would expect, Kelly’s fight has brought support from all around Bills Nation.

Kelly later shared a message he said showed up on his phone before boarding the flight to New York City.

When revealing his latest cancer diagnosis, Kelly said, “I might have lost four Super Bowls in a row, but I’ve kicked cancer’s (butt) twice.
“And I plan on making it a third, with the grace of God,” he added.
