Owner Records Precious Moment Baby Goat and Chick Snuggle Up and Fall Asleep
We understand how the animal world works, right? Nature sorts itself out into what some call dominance hierarchies.
Some creatures stand higher on their particular pecking order. They lord their status over those below — or they simply eat them.
But it doesn’t always work that way. Sure, the predator/prey relationship is fundamental to the natural order.
Still, sometimes creatures who should be natural enemies find ways to form adorable friendships. Consider Tinni the dog and Sniffer the fox.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Norwegian photographer Torgeir Berge watched a wild fox approach his pooch one day while strolling in the woods. Normally such an encounter would end poorly.
However, the fox — who Berge nicknamed Sniffer — took immediately to Tinni, and the pair became chums. In fact, their friendship seemed to echo the Disney film “The Fox and the Hound.”
It isn’t just animal adversaries who find ways to become friends. Sometimes creatures who should simply ignore one another learn how to enjoy each other’s company.
Just think about a truly odd animal couple: Bella the Labrador retriever and Bubbles, a 9,000-pound elephant. According to The Huffington Post, they live in a South Carolina theme park called Myrtle Beach Safari.
They met when a contractor hired to build a pool for Bubbles left puppy Bella behind when the job was done. The dog and elephant have since been inseparable.
Another unlikely pair has surfaced in a viral Facebook video. A couple of young animals that normally wouldn’t even notice each other have become so close that they even find sweet slumber together.
The creatures in question? A baby goat and a chick. The video opens with the chick snuggled against the goat’s forearm.
The kid then rubs his head against the chick in a display of obvious affection. It isn’t a one-off gesture, either.
The baby goat continues to nuzzle the fluffy little fowl. And as he snuggles the chick, you can watch it relax until its eyes suddenly slump shut in sleep.
It’s a sweet moment and an even sweeter reminder. God’s common grace and the blessings of affection and rest extend even to the animal kingdom.
