Here's How Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Plan to Honor Princess Diana During Their Wedding

Share

The royal wedding is fast approaching. It seems everyone is talking about the marriage of Princess Diana’s youngest son, Prince Harry, to American actress Meghan Markle.

As social media buzzes with videos on how to make a proper cup of English tea, and stories featuring Markle’s uninvited family members, the couple appears to be focusing on more important things — such as honoring Prince Harry’s late mother.

It is no secret that Prince Harry and Princess Diana were close. In the years since her passing, Harry has done much in her honor.

The royal wedding will be no different. Kensington Palace has confirmed that the happy couple plans to include Diana’s living relatives in the ceremony. Markle already pays tribute to the late Princess of Wales via the diamonds in her engagement ring.

Honoring Princess Diana on the big day is just one more way the royal pair will ensure she is remembered. Her presence will surely be felt with her siblings in attendance.

The statement from the palace said, “All three siblings of Diana, Princess of Wales will be in attendance and Lady Jane Fellowes will give the reading. Prince Harry and Ms. Markle both feel honoured that Lady Jane will be representing her family and helping to celebrate the memory of the late Princess on the wedding day.”

Lady Jane has remained mostly out of the spotlight since her sister’s passing. I’m sure we can expect her reading to be very special and just what Diana would have wanted for her son.

We don’t yet know if Meghan Markle will wear a piece of Diana’s jewelry during the wedding. But with how important remembering Diana seems to be to Prince Harry and his new bride, our guess is pretty good.

We also look forward to seeing how Diana’s other siblings, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer, will be included. It’s sure to be a day that will be remembered in royal wedding history.

Several recipients of the Diana Award will also be in attendance. Just another way Prince Harry has added to his mother’s memory.

For those of us who aren’t invited, we can still join in the celebration. Many networks will be airing coverage of the event, set to begin in the early hours of the morning on May 19, depending on which part of the country you live in.
