List Is Out: Popular Chain Restaurants' Unhealthiest Meals Have Been Revealed
Eating, generally speaking, is a very personal thing. A definition of “healthy” eating is often in the eye of the beholder — with seemingly endless opinions and research all trying to point us to how humans should eat.
Every year, The Center for Science in the Public Interest compiles a list of the unhealthiest meal choices one can make while dining out.
Making the list of the top eight unhealthiest meals, CSPI says, is not easy.
Each menu item on the list comes from a popular restaurant chain, and often boasts an entire day’s worth of calories into one meal.
Throw in some added sugar, sodium and at least a day’s dose of saturated fat, and you’re looking at a prime candidate to make the list of CSPI’s “Xtreme Eating Awards.”
So without further adieu, let’s find out where we can find the unhealthiest eats of 2018:
1. The Cheesecake Factory Breakfast Burrito
The entree packs a whopping 2,730 calories when you enjoy the sour cream and black beans served alongside the burrito. This tantalizing burrito also packs in an impressive 4,630 mg of sodium — yikes.
2. The Yard House Vampire Taco Combo
These two tiny tacos may seem innocent enough, but each is 440 calories, and the combo comes with rice and beans. A half yard of beer is optional, but indulging seems to complete the vampire combo — what’s a visit to the Yard House without a beer?
3. AMC Theaters Bavarian Legend Pretzel
At 9 inches wide, this soft pretzel boasts 1,920 calories, and that’s before it’s drenched in nacho cheese and mustard. CSPI dubbed this pretzel the “worst cinematic snack.”
4. Cheesecake Factory Chicken Parmesan Pizza Style
This bad boy made its restaurant debut about a year ago, another larger-than-life sized menu option from the Cheesecake Factory. Your pasta vs. pizza dilemma can be solved in this one carbilicious meal.
5. Chili’s Honey-Chipotle Crispers & Waffles
It’s chicken and waffles with a twist, served with fries and a chipotle dipping sauce. If you opt not to share this one, you’re looking at consuming 2,510 calories and a staggering 4,480 milligrams of sodium.
6. BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse Peanut Butter S’mores Pizookie
The only dessert item to make the cut, this pizookie boasts a triple chocolate cookie, peanut butter, marshmallow fluff, marshmallows and vanilla bean ice cream. CSPI likened it to eating an entire 14. oz container of Häagen-Dazs chocolate ice cream, topped with two cups of marshmallow fluff.
7. Shake Shack Double SmokeShack Burger
Double meat, double cheese, double bacon, zero vegetables, buttered bun. Fries. Shake. BAM.
8. Uno Pizzeria & Grill Deep Dish Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese
CSPI has dubbed this deep dish cheesy pasta chicken meal a recipe for deep belly fat. “It’s like eating three orders of Olive Garden’s Cheese Ravioli,” CSPI reported.
So, there you have it. Which of these (if any) menu items would you indulge in, despite their less-than-healthy statistics?
