Little Boy Gives Dinner to Cops Patrolling Neighborhood. Days Later, Cop Shows Up at His School

Share

On Easter Sunday, a elementary school boy surprised an on-duty officer and his partner with a home-cooked meal while they patrolled the neighborhood. The officer was so touched by the boy’s kindness that he knew he needed to find the boy to thank him in person.

Officer E. Beganovic of Newport News, Virginia, was patrolling when a young man named Jeremiah approached and said, “I noticed you guys are on patrol and wanted to bring you some Easter dinner.”

He was holding a plate of food including ham, chicken, mac and cheese, lima beans and rice.

Officer Beganovic said that his heart was full after Jeremiah’s kind act. “This is an elementary school student and I am so touched by him!!” he said. “You made my day Jeremiah!! You are going to grow up and become an amazing man!!”

He later told WVEC that Jeremiah’s actions show how the department’s community-focused policing is affecting those in the community.

The Newport News Police Department posted pictures of Jeremiah and Officer Beganovic which quickly went viral.

Jeremiah’s actions left such an impression that Officer Beganovic knew he needed to thank the young man and encourage him to continue being kind.

On April 26, less than a week after he first met Jeremiah, the grateful officer went to Jeremiah’s elementary school to surprise him.

“Officer Beganovic stopped by Jeremiah’s school and delivered Chick-Fil-A to all of the kids in his class,” the Newport News Police Department wrote.

He also went to Jeremiah’s home to hand deliver a note to his mom, thanking her for raising such a considerate young man.

Jeremiah couldn’t stop smiling when the officer showed up at his elementary school.

According to the police department, a beautiful friendship has been born.

Jeremiah later explained his motivation to give the officer a hot meal. “When you do nice things for other people that good things will come back and happen to you,” he said.

“He touched my heart,” Beganovic told WVEC. “A lot of people need to start taking notes from this little boy.”
