Look: Johnny Manziel throws 1st TD in years
The Johnny Manziel redemption tour took a big step Saturday night.
Manziel, a former Heisman Trophy winner who eventually got cut by the Cleveland Browns, made his official return to competitive football, throwing a touchdown pass in the Spring League.
Not to say this was a big deal, but it literally broke the internet.
First, though, let’s recap how we got here:
Back in February, Manziel revealed to the nation that he suffers from bipolar depression. In late March, The Wildcard told readers about how Manziel participated in the University of San Diego’s pro day, where he threw passes to NFL draft hopefuls. A few days later, he did the same thing at his alma mater, Texas A&M.
And on March 28, Manziel shared how a tearful plea from his mother helped him turn his life around.
Needless to say, there was a lot of excitement heading into Saturday night, and Manziel didn’t disappoint.
Showing off his trademark scrambling ability, Manziel rolled out and hit his teammate on the South squad, wide receiver Antwan Goodley, for a 35-yard completion.

Of course, it’s no good unless you finish it off, and that’s exactly what happened a few plays later, when Manziel found Goodley again for a touchdown.

The Spring League is essentially a showcase for NFL teams to scout out players who they may have overlooked.
The league’s games are streamed live on Bleacher Report’s website, but there was such a demand to see Manziel that the feed temporarily went offline.

Once the feed was restored, viewers saw even more of the former Brown doing what he ‘s always been best at — creating havoc.

Manziel started the game hot, with seven straight completions. But he did struggle after that, going just two-for-eight. Overall, he completed nine of his 15 attempts for 83 yards and a touchdown.
For those keeping score, the North team won 11-7.
The Spring League is back in action April 12, according to CBS Sports.
