Mark Steyn: It's Like Trump's Laying Eggs in the MSM's Brains, Driving Them Nuts

Share

Over the past few years it has become patently obvious that President Donald Trump lives rent-free in the minds of a significant portion of elected Democrats, the liberal media and the political left in general, as he sends them into a frenzy almost daily with a mere remark or tweet, about anything, really.

While this could simply be the result of the left’s reflexive opposition to anything and everything done or said by Trump, some suspect that the president himself may well be deliberately aiding it to an extent to confuse and distract his opponents, like a person teasing a cat with a laser pointer.

That appears to be the view held by conservative author and commentator Mark Steyn, America’s favorite “undocumented” guest host for the great talk radio host Rush Limbaugh and frequent guest on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

In an appearance Thursday night on Carlson’s program, Steyn hilariously compared Trump to a cockroach laying eggs inside the brains of the liberal media in order to drive them insane, a disgusting analogy that nevertheless rings true.

“Why is Trump not completely in control of (New York Times ‘conservative’ columnist) Brett Stephens’ brain, or the entire prime time lineup at CNN? It seems like he is,” Carlson asked.

Steyn replied, “I actually think he is. A couple of weeks ago there was a rather grisly story out of Florida about cockroaches who crawl into your ear and lay eggs in your brain. And actually, don’t laugh, Tucker, because it is happening to famous media personalities every morning.

“They wake up and find that Trump has laid eggs in their brain and these little Trump-roaches are running around inside their heads driving them nuts.

“The MS-13 one was a classic thing. These are guys who use machetes on people and chop them up in very brutal ways, and he called them ‘animals,’ and immediately everyone said, ‘Oh, you can’t compare MS- … it’s outrageous to dehumanize these people.

Do you agree with Mark Steyn's analogy that Trump is laying eggs in the media's brains to drive them nuts?

“And then it’s taken to the next level and they start presenting them as actually nice young lads in the neighborhood who ride around on bicycles and have part-time jobs after school. They’re straight out of ‘Leave it to Beaver,’ except for the tattoos and machetes.

“And Trump manages to do that every time. As you said, it doesn’t even have to be anything big. It could be a tweet about Aretha Franklin and they go bananas.”

Oh my. Sorry, but I’m still laughing while picturing tiny roaches with Trump heads scrambling around inside CNN reporter Jim Acosta’s head, driving him to the point of anti-Trump insanity.

Sadly, it is far more than just Acosta who has rushed headlong into crazy-land by way of a reflexive opposition to Trump, as the Trump-roach egg analogy is applicable to many, many figures in media and politics.

Furthermore, the MS-13 debacle is but one of many examples of how the liberal media has taken up an insane position simply because it opposes Trump, like siding with the leaders of our nation’s enemies and rivals against Trump, or hoping for an economic crash to damage Trump politically, or standing with criminal illegal aliens instead of the American people in order to oppose Trump.

Whether one wants to liken it to disgusting roaches laying eggs in people’s brains or a cat chasing a laser point it will never catch, there is no denying that the liberal media hangs on Trump’s every word and he is capable of playing them easily like a marionette on strings, with a casual remark or string of tweets, every single day.

Perhaps one day the liberal media will decide to pause and take a deep breath and not react with absolute insanity to every single action or utterance by Trump, but until then, the eggs will continue to be laid nightly and the little Trump-roaches scurrying around inside their brains will continue to drive the media batty.
