Report: 'Presbyterian Seminarian' Talarico Had Account On Adult Hookup Website, Was Looking for 'Group Sex,' 'Fetish' Partners

Well, I guess they don’t call him “Talafreako” for nothing.

In a thoroughly X-rated October surprise in the Texas Senate race, conservative outlet Townhall reported Friday that Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico had a profile on adult hookup site Fling linked to his email.

The account was discovered in a batch of files from Fling’s 2011 data breach.

In the profile, created on Dec. 26, 2010, user “mohawk787” — with the email jimmytalarico@austin.rr.com — said he was interested in “fetish,” “groupsex,” “sexual relations,” “online flirting,” and “other.”

Talarico’s lawyers immediately responded with a four-page letter claiming that a hacker created the account, using as evidence the fact that the birth date and ZIP code don’t match Talarico’s.

These data, however, aren’t especially difficult to manipulate. But the email, which was validated, also appeared in Myspace and Zynga (remember those?) breach records, and the IP address from which the account was registered also matched one used by Talarico’s sister, which was discovered in a different data breach.

And while the account preceded his time in politics, it also came while he was a sixth grade teacher. So, not even that would make it better.

Furthermore, it’s worth noting, as Townhall did in its report, that Talarico’s lawyers “did not dispute that the IP address that appears to have been used to create the Fling.com account with Talarico’s email was the same IP address used to register an account with a different service using an email associated with Talarico’s sister.”

That’s pretty critical. An IP address, for the uninitiated, effectively tells you what internet connection is being used.

If this were a hack, not only would the hacker have to have access to Talarico’s email address, but but he would also need access to a family internet connection.

“Nevertheless, even an authentic database record can leave unanswered who supplied an email address, controlled an account, or entered its profile information. The available material establishes no message exchange, meeting, or misconduct, or indicates definitively who created the Fling.com account with Talarico’s email address,” Townhall admitted, while also noting that this wouldn’t precisely be out of character for the guy:

If the Fling.com account was created by Talarico, it would not be the first time he has been associated with adult content. Last November, Axios confirmed that Talarico follows porn stars and escorts on his personal Instagram account, noting that Talarico liked separate photos of an Austin-based Instagram account holder who has a page on EscortBook.com. The Talarico campaign said at the time that “James has never subscribed to OnlyFans or an escort service.”

But what we did know at that time was that in a 2019 interview, Talarico said he tried to keep his Instagram account limited to his personal friends. At roughly the 4:28 mark, host Trey Blocker asked, “What is the go-to platform for you? Is it Instagram, Twitter, Facebook?”

“It depends on what for,” Talarico replied. “I feel like for political things, Twitter. For more personal things, Instagram. You know, I try not to follow celebrities or journalists or politicians on Instagram. I try to just keep it as, like, my personal friends. And then Twitter is where I feel like I interact most.” [Emphasis ours]

How ’bout that.

Look, if this were Gavin Newsom, nobody would bat an eye. In fact, we’d almost commend him for looking outside his circle of friends and colleagues (and more specifically, their spouses) for carnal comfort.

Part of the appeal for Talarico, alas, is that he’s a “Presbyterian seminarian.” This vague phrase has carried a lot of weight during this campaign cycle, and it’s basically been used to paint him as the faith-and-values candidate, particularly given his opponent’s very public divorce.

Mind you, there’s already been enough evidence that this was a sham, just from hearing the words that came out of Talarico’s mouth:

If this is what he says in public while trying to pass himself off as just a good ol’ seminarian doing God’s work in the state legislature, it makes one wonder what he does in private.

Well, the evidence may indicate that, at least at one point in time, he trawled the internet for “fetish” partners and “groupsex.”

And yes, we’re all sinners, and yes, if our private lives were broadcast before God and others, we’d hang our heads in shame — although, I’d hope, not to this extent.

The thing is, in any other circumstance besides this being less than a week before Election Day, James Talarico would probably shrug and say, sure, he took out the profile, and he doesn’t find it sinful in any way. That’s the real scandal here, and that’s why he’s earned the moniker “Talafreako.”
