The NBA season has featured plenty of LeBron James drama.

The superstar has presided over a Cleveland Cavaliers team that started strong but was coming apart at the seams as it struggled through an ugly stretch in December and January.

In a Jan. 8 blowout loss to the Timberwolves, James scored just 10 points — his lowest total since 2007 — and posted a career-worst minus-39 rating.

In early February, LeBron’s team was overhauled. The Cavs dealt away Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye, Jae Crowder, Derrick Rose, Dwyane Wade and Iman Shumpert, while adding Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance Jr., George Hill and Rodney Hood.

The lineup shuffle didn’t do much to turn things around, as Cleveland sits in third place in the Eastern Conference, nine games behind Toronto.

In addition, James has gotten involved in divisive political battles and was ejected for the first time in his 15-year career.

The LeBron drama during the season, however, could be nothing compared with what’s to come in the offseason.

The 33-year-old superstar can opt out of his contract with Cleveland this summer and test the market, and all signs indicate he plans to do so.

Do you think LeBron James will still be a Cavalier next season?

The question of which team will land one of the all-time greats will be the top NBA storyline of the offseason.

But according to a new report, 26 teams have already been eliminated from the LeBron sweepstakes.

The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor reported Thursday that according to “multiple league sources,” James has narrowed his list to four teams: the Cavaliers, the Lakers, the Rockets and the 76ers.

If Cleveland finishes strong with its new, younger lineup and makes an NBA Finals run, it’s possible LeBron will decide to stay in his hometown.

Houston would be the destination if James wants the best odds to add to his ring total. The Rockets currently have the best record in the NBA without him, and they’d be a superteam to rival the Golden State Warriors if LeBron joined James Harden and company.

The Lakers have been LeBron’s rumored destination for months, with fellow free agent Paul George supposedly joining him in LA.

Philadelphia, meanwhile, is an up-and-coming team that would get a big boost from his veteran presence.

A lot will likely depend on how this season plays out — which makes these next two months even more interesting for NBA fans.
