Trump Announces Air Force One's Getting New Patriotic Paint Job

Share

President Donald Trump is giving the country a makeover: from tax reform, job creation, decreased regulations, to the Supreme Court, he’s delivering on his promise to make America great again.

Now, Trump’s taking that MAGA motto and applying it to America’s presidential aircraft, Air Force One.

From even before he took office, Trump promised to negotiate a better deal with Boeing for new Air Force One planes — and he delivered.

“President Trump has reached an informal deal with Boeing on a fixed price contract for the new Air Force One Program. Thanks to the president’s negotiations, the contract will save the taxpayers more than $1.4 billion,” said deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley in February.

Even Boeing admitted Trump had “negotiated a good deal on behalf of the American people.”

“Boeing is proud to build the next generation of Air Force One, providing American Presidents with a flying White Hose at outstanding value to taxpayers. President Trump negotiated a good deal on behalf of the American people,” read Boeing’s statement on Twitter.

In true Trump fashion, Air Force One will also be getting a patriotic upgrade.

In an interview with CBS, Trump confirmed that the new model of the plane will be updated inside and out.

Are you excited about this makeover?

For a president who loves America and is always looking to put America first, it makes sense that Trump wants Air Force One to look “more American,” with red, white and blue colors, according to Axios.

The current blue and white color scheme was designed in the early 1960s by President John F. Kennedy and first lady Jackie Kennedy.

The upgraded Air Force One is “going to be incredible,” Trump said in an interview with CBS. “It’s going to be the top of the line, the top in the world, and it’s going to be red, white and blue, which I think is appropriate.”

“The new Air Force One jets are scheduled to arrive by 2024,” CBS reported.

“I hate to say this, it’s gonna be a long time,” Trump said. “It’s a very complex project. But by the time it gets built, you’re gonna have many presidents, hopefully, use it and enjoy it.”

Trump won’t get to enjoy these planes himself since he will be out of office, but given the lifespan of these planes, they will serve as ambassadors of American patriotism and strength as they travel the world for decades to come.
