Watch: NFL star gets horse collared by airport security dog

Share

New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram was pursued and taken down by an airport security dog Wednesday.

And he did it on purpose.

Ingram is on an NFL-USO Tour of Italy and Germany as part of the league’s “Salute to Service” program. Joining him are former coach Rex Ryan, the Bengals’ Carlos Dunlap, the Vikings’ Latavius Murray, the Panthers’ Mario Addison and the Falcons’ Ben Garland.

During a stop at Aviano Air Base in Italy, Ingram volunteered to be chased by the security dog, and it was captured on video by NFL Media’s Marc Sessler.

The Pro Bowl running back took off running in a padded outfit. When the dog got close, Ingram tried to put a spin move on the pooch, but it didn’t work. The dog pulled Ingram down with a horse collar tackle.

Afterward, Ingram said he was “peer pressured” into the dog chase.

Would you volunteer to be chased down by a security dog?

“Listen, man, the dog video,” he said. “There’s a lot that goes into it. It was a crazy situation. Everybody … I was peer pressured. I haven’t fell into peer pressure my whole life, and they peer pressured me to go out here and get attacked by this dog. So the first time, he just ran up and bit my arm. I handled him. The second time, bit my arm. I handled him.

“The third time, they said, ‘Run away from him,’ so I said I’m going to run. And everyone was like, ‘Juke him, juke him,’ and the dog looked excited so I’m not going to juke him. So I started running, then I saw him behind me, so I said, let me spin out of it, then I spun and he got my arm and he slung me, he horse collared me.”

Ingram said he “got up like a champ, because I’m a beast! I can’t let him hold me down. I’m a bad mother. But the dog was a beast, I’ll tell you that.”

In addition to the canine caper, the group met with U.S. troops stationed at Aviano.

Murray also got a workout flipping a tire.

Next the group will head to Germany, where they’ll meet with U.S. troops and their families and distribute USO2GO kits.

Note to Ingram: That country is home to the German shepherd, and they don’t mess around. Handle any peer pressure accordingly.
