Dallas Cowboys Captain Ends Up In Bar Brawl, Shoves Police Officers – Report
A rough offseason for the Dallas Cowboys organization just got rougher, as TMZ reported Tuesday that Tyrone Crawford, the Cowboys’ defensive end and defensive team captain, allegedly shoved two police officers as they made an arrest in Florida on March 15.
The key phrase is “allegedly”—nothing has yet been established by a court of law and charges have not yet been filed.
In addition, Crawford himself was not arrested. The arrest involved a member of his entourage.
At issue was a bar brawl that broke out at a Coyote Ugly Saloon location in Panama City, Florida, where at around midnight an unknown trigger touched off a donnybrook on the bar floor, per TMZ.
The report continues, claiming that bar staff were involved in the melee, though whether as victims, instigators, or something in-between remains in doubt.
And this was no ordinary tussle—things apparently got nasty, with multiple injuries reported, including a broken foot suffered by one of the bar’s employees.
Crawford, it should be noted, is not mentioned by name in the report.
His alleged involvement was, however, mentioned by witnesses, who told TMZ that they were “adamant” that Crawford was one of the parties involved in the fighting.
By the time police arrived at the scene, “8 to 10” people were still throwing hands, according to the police report obtained by TMZ.
The police report also says that Crawford, all 6-foot-4 and 285 pounds of him, crashed through two cops like a pair of overmatched offensive linemen and “aggressively put his hands on” two officers who at that moment were applying handcuffs to one of the arrested combatants.
Multiple cops then joined in the fray, restraining Crawford and pushing him away from the spot the arrest took place.
For reasons unknown and left unstated, those same cops did not immediately arrest Crawford despite what the report implies to be assault of no less than four police officers.
The incident involving Crawford was caught on video—the bar’s security cameras capturing Crawford in the act of doing the deeds alleged in the report.
Crawford and the Cowboys have yet to comment publicly on Friday night’s events, and Panama City police have said nothing about the status, if any, of Crawford legally speaking after the events of Friday night.
This has been a disappointing offseason for the Cowboys so far, for a litany of reasons.
Oft rumored to be Dallas-bound, Cowboys fans were undoubtedly disappointed when free agent safety Earl Thomas chose to sign with the Baltimore Ravens rather than join his home state team.
Defensive end Randy Gregory has been indefinitely suspended by the league after his fourth substance abuse violation.
And now the Cowboys may find themselves with yet another defensive player lost not to injury but to the vagaries of player behavior.
With the NFL Draft still over a month away, the Cowboys may find themselves with needs to fill that they wouldn’t have foreseen after the end of last season.
