3 Firefighters Get Girlfriends To Help with 'Rescue' Drill, Then Pull Out Engagement Rings
“Will you marry me?”
Four words these three girlfriends never expected to hear when they agreed to help out with a drill at New York’s Fire Academy. A Rumble video shared by Christian Mendler in May 2016 captures the special surprise.
As probationary firefighters DeJesus, Pipitone and Mendler prepare to repel down the side of a brick building to practice rescuing the waiting women, the crowd cheers.
However, the audience, like the women, have no idea what’s coming.
As the three trainees are lowered over the wall, the announcer introduces them over the loudspeaker and each man receives shouts of support from onlookers enjoying the proud moment.
The firemen in training make their way down the wall, finally stopping at the windows where their girlfriends are waiting.
It is at this moment that the men begin shuffling in their pockets, and, sure enough, each pulls out an engagement ring. In an emotional moment, the couples embrace as the probationary firemen pop the question.
All three receive a resounding yes!
“We have just had three marriage proposals!” the announcer exclaims.
One of the new brides-to-be wraps her arms around her fiancé’s neck as he continues with the drill, helping her out of the window.
Once on solid ground, the two share another sweet hug. Then it’s time to continue with the drill, as the announcer gives the next set of instructions.
As it turns out, DeJesus, Pipitone and Mendler are just three of the courageous servicemen who have taken advantage of their exciting careers when it comes to popping the question in a special and unique way. In fact, this daring proposal method is popular among firefighters.
Probationary firefighter Ziyad Santana also pulled off the “roof rope proposal” in April 2016 when he asked his girlfriend to marry him outside the rescue window.

The New York City Fire Department tweeted their congratulations to Santana and his fiancée, using the hashtag #RoofRopeProposal.
Who knows? Maybe the romantic gesture will spark a trend among firemen in the future.
One thing is for sure, it’s obvious these brave future husbands will continue to support the women they love in every possible way.
