Hateful Comedian Chelsea Handler: 'Rape Is Fine' for 'All White' Republicans

Share

A lot of people have had a lot to say about the confirmation process of Supreme Court Justice nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh. It can oftentimes be easily divided by political party.

The left tends to call him things like “rapist” and “liar,” while mocking his past. And the right tends to lean toward believing in his innocence and wanting him confirmed to the high court.

But controversial comedian Chelsea Handler has taken the discussion to what some may call “a new low.” One example may be found in a tweet in which she blatantly lies:

This, “white male party” charge, of course, will be news to people like former Sheriff David A. Clarke, syndicated columnist Herman Cain, former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson, and YouTube sensations Diamond and Silk. It will also likely surprise radio commentator Larry Elder, actress Stacey Dash and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

Lets not forget the shock that pro-life activist Alveda King, Sen. Tim Scott, Rep. Mia Love, retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Allen West, and syndicated columnist Star Parker may also experience from Handler’s comment. Those are just a few of the many, many others within the Republican party ranks who may find the news to be contrary to reality.

In terms of being fine with rape, not only is that a lie, but she needs to look at the behavior of her own party before making such a blanket accusation. LifeNews wrote that, “Sen. Susan Collin’s office says it has received threats of rape and other violence from abortion activists who want her to vote against U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.”

Did Chelsea Handler go too far with her comment?

“Over the past few months, NARAL, Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion groups have been targeting her with phone calls, political ads, fundraising for a pro-abortion Democrat opponent and a coat hanger campaign; but these attempts to influence may have the opposite effect.” Collins said that one of her female staffers was threatened with rape by one caller if Collins din’t vote against Kavanaugh.

Breitbart pointed out that Handler had “joined forces with NARAL Pro-Choice America on a campaign against Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation in August.” Statements she made in a press release about it could be seen as pointing to a belief that no low is too low to get what you want politically.

“We need to do everything possible to defeat this nomination. We need to speak out. We need to call our senators. We need to take to the streets.”

Some commenting on her tweet pointed to her hypocrisy. They pointed to Democrats who have been accused of rape and more.

Another issue addressed was that of the presumption of innocence until proven guilty that used to reign supreme in the United States. Her tweet presupposes guilt on Kavanaugh’s part and also turns an allegation of groping or attempted rape into full-blown rape.

Nationwide, the public has been expressing fatigue with the hatefulness and partisan attacks. The #WalkAway movement is benefiting from the ongoing nastiness expressed by the left. This, of course, benefits the right and that has been showing in elections this year, so far.

Disagreement is one thing and is expected when it comes to political discussion. But some would argue that blatantly lying and making hateful, blanket statements is going too far — tactics that reasonable people should avoid at all costs.
