Desperate Media Lists Number of Hours Between McCain's Death and Trump's Golf Outing
When the media whines about Trump’s never-ending battles with them, it’s stories like these that need to be brought up.
The U.K. Daily Mail ran a headline for a story called “Donald Trump returns to the golf course just 17 HOURS after the death of John McCain as he faces criticism for failing to properly honor GOP giant’s life and legacy,” according to Breitbart.
The original link to that story has since changed its title and focused on the criticism Trump faced for not mentioning the Jacksonville shooting.
It’s important to note that the Daily Mail is ordinarily a conservative leaning publication, so it’s possible there was a serious miscommunication somewhere in the news production process. And perhaps credit is due the editors for having the sense to change the absurd nature of that story. But the fact remains, the story should never have been run in the first place.
But in the anti-Trump atmosphere fostered by the relentlessly biased nature of White House coverage, even conservative-leaning outlets can get infected, and the Daily Mail’s story comes off as just the latest attempt by the media to discredit Trump on something. (Would anyone have been surprised to see the exact same story on CNN or MSNBC, possibly with a “countdown clock” or some other gimmicky graphic?)
Nobody should be immune to criticism. Wrong is wrong.
But when the media continually cries wolf like this, it’ll make it downright impossible to actually criticize Trump should the need arise.
Going back to the original Daily Mail story, what exactly should Trump have done? Spend the next 24 hours mourning over a political rival? 48? 72?
Something tells me that the media would’ve been upset regardless of the amount time Trump had spent reflecting on McCain’s passing.
Who is to decide how people should or shouldn’t mourn? Would the Daily Mail have blasted Yoko Ono for playing the piano too shortly after George Harrison’s death?
Of course, this type of nonsensical vitriol isn’t reserved for Trump’s alleged golfing. The media also took time to blast Trump for raising the White House flag to full staff two days after McCain’s passing.

Actually, Mr. Knoller, government code specifically states that the flag will be flown at half-staff “on the day of death and the following day for a Member of Congress.” Trump fulfilled that requirement.
But why left facts get in the way of some media-driven Trump bashing?
Of all the talk surrounding the death of a great American like John McCain, nothing is as disrespectful to the man as the leftists urge to turn his passing into a weapon to attack the president.
It’s beyond pathetic, and frankly embarrassing, enough for the media to start bashing Trump over perceived slights. But when those perceptions aren’t even based in fact? It actively undermines and ruins credibility, which is Trump’s whole issue with the “fake news” mainstream media to begin with.
At this rate, news publications are going to start running stories bashing Trump for how many scoops of ice cream he likes to eat.
