Kashuv Stoutly Defends 2nd Amendment, Floors Gun-Grabbing Lawmakers in Charged Speech

Share

In a speech to the NRA convention earlier this year, Parkland survivor and Second Amendment activist Kyle Kashuv loudly declared that “no matter what they say, they will not take our guns away!”

The speech in May came after Kashuv was invited onto the podium by Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Kashuv has taken on a role as high school outreach for the conservative student organization.

Kirk described Kashuv as someone who “courageously stood up to the media” in the wake of the Parkland shooting “and fought for our Second Amendment rights as a Parkland student himself.”

Kashuv got an extremely warm welcome from the attendees at the national convention, whom he described as “absolute patriots.”

“After Parkland, on the 14th (of February), I realized the Second Amendment was under siege,” Kashuv said.

“So you know what I did? I went to D.C., I met with dozens of senators, the amazing president and the VP,” he continued. “And we got the STOP School Violence Act passed.”

The act, which allocates grants for training and security measures to make schools safer, passed the House by a bipartisan 407-10 vote in March. It’s pending a vote in the Senate.

“I want to let every single one of you know that no matter what they say, they will not take our guns away!” Kashuv said in a rousing conclusion to his speech.

While Kashuv has garnered considerably less attention in the legacy media than the anti-gun Parkland survivors for reasons that surely need no explanation, he’s arguably been the one with the greatest substantive impact.

This is because, unlike fist-raising speeches at astroturfed rallies, Kashuv has actually looked to get things done.

He’s accepted a position with Turning Point USA and has reached out to politicians in Washington to work toward sensible school safety, not just a reflexive move toward gun control.

Do you agree with Kyle Kashuv?

For students like Emma Gonzalez and David Hogg, the Parkland tragedy was an opportunity to raise their status and get a lot of media attention.

But what have they accomplished? Liberals keep on giving windy paeans to the teens alleged “bravery” in opposing the Constitution. And yet, national opinions are more or less where they were before.

Kashuv, undeterred by media headwinds and a truly bizarre character assassination campaign against him by none other than Newsweek senior writer Kurt Eichenwald, has quietly been making a difference.

Yes, Kashuv’s speech wasn’t the one that got the most attention at the NRA’s national convention. That was President Donald Trump.

However, he spoke the truest words we heard from that event: Gun-grabbers not going to be taking our Second Amendment rights away any time soon.

That’s why we love Kyle Kashuv — he gets it.
