Publisher Furious as NY Times Snubs 'Jesus' in Favor of Stormy Daniels

There’s strong evidence that the mainstream media have a liberal bias. From cable news to Hollywood and even, increasingly, social media outlets, the playing field seems to tilt left.

But what about print?

Good, old-fashioned books — millennials, ask your parents — might not be as high-tech as Google or Facebook, but they’re still a big part of the media. So are newspapers, even though the “paper” in the name is increasingly being replaced by pixels.

For decades, the venerable New York Times Bestseller List served as the final word on which books were popular in America. But that may be finally changing.

According to Paul Bedard of the Washington Examiner, that famous New York newspaper is facing flak after it apparently snubbed a popular book about Christianity written by a big name in conservative commentary and another that supports President Donald Trump.

“[T]he New York Times bestseller list is putting books by a model and a porn actress above those with bigger sales numbers that focus on Jesus and promote President Trump,” Bedard wrote Friday.

“Jesus is Risen,” a book about the early Christian church penned by David Limbaugh, has been selling like hotcakes, yet The New York Times has kept it completely off the bestseller list.

At the same time, another conservative book — “Liars, Leakers, and Liberals” by Fox News host Jeanine Pirro — appears to have been suspiciously placed lower than where it belongs on The Times’ list.

Publisher’s Weekly, which closely tracks book sales, reported that Limbaugh’s book sold 9,218 copies for the week and Pirro’s book sold 9,187 for the same time period.

Do you believe there is strong media bias against conservatives?

Porn star and Trump accuser Stormy Daniels sold fewer copies of her tell-all, “Full Disclosure,” with 8,911 purchased.

Yet on The Times’ much-cited bestseller list, the order is completely different.

“Going by sales numbers, Limbaugh should be ranked seventh and Pirro eighth. Instead, Limbaugh doesn’t even make the list, which ranks the top 15, and Pirro is last,” Bedard wrote.

“Ahead of them are books with worse numbers,” he continued. “Trump accuser and porn star Stormy Daniels is ranked 11th for selling 8,911 copies of ‘Full Disclosure.’ Model Gisele Bundchen’s ‘Lessons’ is ranked 9th for selling 8,342.”

How exactly does that work? Well, The Times supposedly uses a convoluted formula that nobody seems to understand. What a convenient excuse.

It’s so bad that several publishers have completely stopped cooperating with The Times or using its questionable bestseller list at all.

“It’s no surprise to us that the New York Times ranked Stormy Daniels over ‘Jesus is Risen’ despite the fact that ‘Jesus is Risen’ sold more copies. It simply confirms the decision we made last year to break our ties with the list,” a representative from Regnery Publishing told The Examiner.

Regnery published “Jesus is Risen” as well as the books of many famous conservatives, including Dinesh D’Souza, Newt Gingrich and Ann Coulter.

“Regardless of what the NYT Bestseller List wishes were true, it’s clear that Americans are hungrier than ever for Christian and conservative messages,” the publisher’s representative said.

Once again, a major part of the “establishment” has been shown to be increasingly irrelevant.
