Customer Calls 911 on Barber Who Gave Him Horrible Haircut, Barber Arrested

Share

At age five my son has only been to the barber shop four times in his life. There is just something about little boys with Beatles-esque hair that is cute.

Recently he found the hair was in his eyes too much and requested a trip to the barber shop.

It took us a few weeks to work out finances and schedules, but eventually we went.

Bravery, I am now convinced, is a kindergartner who is terrified of having his haircut who requests to go to the barber shop.

He didn’t do it on his own, there was much hand-holding and he shook the whole time — but in the end it was his choice and his bravery that got him through.

With a patient barber, a little boy who was scared had his hair slowly trimmed. The key is that the barber was patient.

Khaled A. Shabani, a 46 year-old stylist in Madison, Wisconsin, at Ruby’s Salon on 627 State St., does not not sound like a patient barber.

While he was cutting the hair of a customer, he grabbed and twisted the man’s ear. He claimed the man was fidgeting and moving his head.

When that tactic did not work, he snipped the corner of his customer’s ear. With the clipper at its shortest setting, he then ran it straight down the middle of his patron’s head.

The result left the man looking like looking a bit like “Larry from ‘The Three Stooges.’”

Larry Fine may have been one of America’s greatest actors but no one alive wants his hair cut like that.

Shabani claims the ear snip was an accident. He was later arrested on a tentative charge of mayhem and a ticket for disorderly conduct.

Disorderly conduct was a county ordinance violation and not a criminal charge — but combined with the other bad behavior, snipping an ear looks rather unlike the accident Shabani claimed it was.

“While it is not a crime to give someone a bad haircut, you will get arrested for intentionally snipping their ear with a scissors,” police spokesman Joel DeSpain explained.

The man had his head shaved by another barber. He later left to travel home for Christmas.

Maybe hair stylists should treat everyone like they are a 5-year-old boy. With patience and love.
