It’s a rare occasion that anybody remembers Virginia Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine.

Even “Saturday Night Live” had fun with the idea that we’ve all but forgotten Hillary Clinton’s running mate in her abortive 2016 attempt at the White House, with Kaine appearing in a pre-election episode where a would-be Kamala voter showed how little he knew nor cared about Democratic Party, failing to identify Kaine even as he said he shared the same first name as Harris’ running mate. Still nothing.

That was kind of funny. This week, the reason we remembered Kaine would be funny — were it not so serious.
