Dunkin' Donuts Is Getting Rid of 10 Items from Menu. Is It One of Your Favorites?

Share

Apparently, Dunkin’ Donuts thinks their menu is too much of a headache. Next Monday, the coffee chain plans on cutting a list of menu items in stores located in New England and upstate New York.

This change will take effect nationwide in March. If you’re a fan of the Ham & Cheddar or Chicken Salad Sandwich, you better get them before they’re gone!

Removing these items is in-line with Dunkin’ Donuts’ attempt to slim things down.

They’ve been phasing some of these items out since last year, and even cut 12 of their doughnut selections in many of their stores in October of 2017.

Dunkin’ is even dropping “Donuts” from their name, making it compatible with what everyone already calls them. All of these efforts are trying to make the stores offer more efficient service.

Since Dunkin’ Donuts has been expanding across the country, they’ve been adding items in an attempt to bring in the lunch crowd instead of breakfast alone. They’ve added more sandwiches and healthier options while trying to attract more customers.

With these efforts, public perception of the company seems to have changed.

People see them as on-par with fast food restaurants rather than other coffee shops like Starbucks.

This mentality could explain the move away from “Donuts” in the name. Just as KFC wanted to minimalize “fried,” by shortening their name, Dunkin’ is trying to move away from their “Donuts” brand.

Dunkin’ is trying to win back some of the support it might have lost with these moves. Hopefully, the changes don’t affect your afternoon eating habits.

According to the company’s statement, Dunkin’ will eliminate “slower-moving products like afternoon sandwiches, some muffin, bagel and cream cheese varieties, Smoothies, and flatbread.”

This is in an attempt to provide “faster, more accurate service and a more consistent consumer experience from store to store.”

Here’s a full list of everything that’s leaving Dunkin’ next Monday:

  • Turkey Cheddar Bacon Sandwich
  • Ham & Cheddar Sandwich
  • Tuna Salad Sandwich
  • Chicken Salad Sandwich
  • Big N’ Toasted Breakfast Sandwich
  • Angus Steak & Egg Breakfast Sandwich
  • Strawberry Banana and Tropical Mango Smoothies
  • Peach, Caramel, and Mocha unsweetened flavor shots
  • Some optional muffin, bagel and cream cheese selections

Flatbread

If you don’t live in New England or upstate New York, you have a few more months to enjoy your flavor shots and Tuna Salad Sandwiches.

We hope this switch doesn’t cause too much chaos in your lunch schedule!
