Ed Sheeran Might Be Making a Special Appearance at Harry & Markle's Royal Wedding

Share

One of the best love songs of the past decade is Ed Sheeran’s, “Thinking Out Loud.”

Not only did it win Song of the Year at the 2015 Grammy Awards, but it has since become a staple at wedding receptions across the world.

The video below shows Sheeran giving a surprise performance of his song at a wedding in 2015. This video became an instant viral sensation online, and has since racked up over 25 million views.

This performance not only displayed Sheeran’s incredible ability as a singer-songwriter, but it also explains his overwhelmingly positive public image.

Even after playing sold-out stadium concerts, he will still take time to offer his talents for deserving people.

This is likely not his last wedding performance though. Recent reports from Us Magazine offer insider information that his presence has been requested at the royal wedding.

In late 2017, Prince Charles inducted Sheeran as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). Following the induction ceremony, he was asked if he would perform at the upcoming wedding if given the chance; Sheeran responded, “Yeah, why not.”

However, it seems that this simple question might turn into reality. It’s been reported that Prince Harry himself has now personally requested for Sheeran to perform.

Both Harry and Markle are huge fans. On a recent trip to Scotland, the two were serenaded with a cover of Sheeran’s “Perfect.”

Markle was especially touched, as she, “looked like she was going to cry.”

Sheeran notably has connections to the royal family through his friendship with Princess Beatrice.

The two met under unusual circumstances in late 2016, after Beatrice accidentally cut Sheeran’s face with a saber while pretending to knight his touring partner, James Blunt.

Celebrity performances are not unusual at royal weddings. In fact, Sheeran’s ex, Ellie Goulding, performed at William and Kate’s wedding. Another potential performer could be Sir Elton John — who had a strong connection to Princess Diana.

However, if Sheeran does accept the invitation, he may have to make changes in his current touring schedule. Currently, he is supposed to be performing in Dublin on the same day the wedding has been scheduled.

His tour has already been cut short due to an injury last October. If he were to perform at the ceremony, it is likely that he will have to disappoint more of his fans.

Whatever he decides to do, we are sure that he will bring smiles (and maybe even tears) to everyone watching. Until then, preparations for the royal wedding remain in full swing.
