Ed Sheeran Reveals Secret He'd Been Keeping from Public Since Last Year
Ed Sheeran’s music is widely known, and there are just some of his songs that will not get out of everyone’s heads.
For example, “Thinkin’ Out Loud” is basically everyone’s wedding song nowadays, and now that I’ve thought about it, it’ll be running through my brain all day.
If you follow Ed Sheeran or music in general, you probably know that his new song, “Perfect,” hit the number one spot over Christmas 2017, featuring Beyonce.
Now of course, anything with Beyonce is going to do well, but combining the dreamy voice of the U.K. heart-throb and the Pop Queen of U.S. is one of those songs you just can’t underestimate.
Have you ever wondered what inspired the song “Perfect,” though? If you’re like me and don’t keep close tabs on the music business, you might think it was just another love song that could apply to anyone. But apparently, Ed Sheeran has a girlfriend — I wouldn’t have been able to tell you that, let alone who it was, to save my life.
But with that news comes every woman’s heartbreak: Sheeran’s engagement announcement! He popped the question in late 2017, but kept it a secret until his recent Instagram post from the morning of Jan. 20, 2018.
The lucky girl is actually his high school crush: Cherry Seaborn. They aren’t “high school sweethearts,” though.
They didn’t start dating until 2015. Seaborn was working on Wall Street while Sheeran was melting hearts on stage.
Seaborn eventually transferred to the London office of her company and moved in with Sheeran. Talk about a dream come true.
Unfortunately for the single ladies out there, between Prince Harry’s engagement and now Ed Sheeran’s, all attractive, rich gingers are now off the market. With that, our hopes and dreams are officially crushed.
All jokes aside though, we’re happy for Sheeran and Seaborn, and we can’t wait for all the wedding details to hit the news in the weeks to come.
It probably won’t be as spectacular and media-heavy as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s — I mean, it’s hard to top a royal wedding — but I imagine Seaborn will still feel like a princess in her heart, even if she isn’t actually becoming British royalty.
With no wedding date announced and just the tantalizing caption, “Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx,” no one is quite sure — except maybe the lovebirds — if it will be in 2018.
This is certainly shaping up to be an exciting year! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle marry on May 19, Prince William and Kate Middleton are expecting their third baby, and now Mr. Dreamy himself is marrying the love of his life.
