Eric Trump Triggers Liberals by Thanking Officers for Stopping Trump National Doral Shooting

Share

When a crazed gunman opened fire in the lobby of the Trump National Doral Golf Club on Friday, it didn’t take long for police officers to neutralize the threat, wounding the shooter and taking him into custody.

Given how bad things could have been, Eric Trump went onto Twitter to praise the Florida officers who helped subdue the suspect. And this being 2018 and the left being comprised of plenty of spiteful, horrible individuals, all hell broke loose.

According to the Orlando Sun-Sentinel, the armed man opened fire with a handgun at about 1:30 a.m. “in what authorities described as a type of ambush attack before he was arrested.”

Johnathan Oddi, 42, was arrested after five officers shot at his legs. According to Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez, the suspect aimed to “engage our police officers — some type of ambush-type attack — trying to lure our police officers.”

The suspect had also draped an American flag over a counter and was shouting anti-Trump rhetoric.

Given the bravery of the police officers, Eric Trump thought that a thank you was in order.

“A huge thank you to the incredible men and women of the @DoralPolice Department and @MiamiDadePD. Every day they keep our community safe. We are very grateful to you!” Trump wrote, followed by some American flags.

In these divisive times, this is something we should all be able to agree on, right? Respect for brave police officers stopping an insane gunman is something that shouldn’t be divisive in any way, right?

Do you think liberals' hateful rhetoric will hurt them in 2020?

Nope. Instead, he triggered liberals.

The Daily Wire collected some of the better reactions on Twitter. And by “better,” what I mean is pretty much the opposite of that.

J. Breveboy agreed that the Trumps clearly aren’t patriots, because I’m guessing only those who agree with him are patriots.

@thesum reminded us who the real hero here was. Hint: not the police officers who risked their life to stop a mass shooting.

One problem: Unlike Robert Mueller, the police officers actually found a suspect that was probably guilty.

@marsha75, meanwhile, couldn’t even come up with an argument that original.

By “most of America,” read “most of @marsha75’s friends.” Maybe one day she’ll actually venture outside and meet a conservative, but I doubt it.

America is all abuzz about Donald Glover’s hyper-violent “This is America” video and what it says about the country in 2018. However, I think this all makes the point a lot better. Brave police officers stop a mass shooting at a Trump golf course apparently caused by a crazed anti-Trump assailant and the internet’s response is to hunch over their laptops and assail Eric Trump.

Every one of these tweets go well beyond the range of normal human response, and I would seriously urge anyone responsible for them to take a good look in the mirror and see if they like who’s staring back at them. If not, perhaps its time to settle down, reduce the angry rhetoric and start talking about the issues facing our country in a calm, rational manner — instead of besmirching heroic police officers simply because they responded to a shooting at a Trump golf course.

At least some people got the message:

Amen.
