Gingerbread Men Fall Victim to PC Culture. Meet the 'Gingerbread Persons.'

Share

Nothing is safe from the leftists’ crusade for political correctness this Christmas season: They’re even going after gingerbread men.

In a sign that Democrats in Washington don’t have a global monopoly on liberal absurdity, the Parliament of Scotland has decided it’s crucially important to stop selling “gingerbread men” in its coffee shop.

Instead, the coffee shop will be selling the more inclusive, gender-neutral “gingerbread persons,” according to The Sun.

The move comes after women working for the Parliament claimed they were being sexually harassed, the newspaper reported.

While it’s objectively good to stop sexual harassment, I doubt renaming “gingerbread men” to “gingerbread persons” will stop a single predator.

It’s just a bad name change. The phrase “gingerbread persons” doesn’t roll off the tongue like “gingerbread man.” It’s like referring to policemen and policewomen as “police people.”

Of course, the radicals on the left would retort by claiming such new terminology is necessary to include more than two genders.

Thankfully, many sane people spoke out against the ridiculous “gingerbread persons” idea.

Annie Wells, whom The Sun identified as the “equalities spokesperson for the Scottish Conservatives,” slammed the new name as a “pointless gesture.”

Will you keep calling them gingerbread men?

“Surely the Scottish Parliament has got better things to do than worry about what to call gingerbread men?” Wells said, according to The Sun. “This is an utterly pointless gesture which simply trivializes the real issues of gender equality.”

English comedian Ricky Gervais poked fun at the “gingerbread persons” by pointing out the “racist” bias that Scottish Parliament overlooked.

Perhaps they should be called “bread persons” for maximum inclusiveness.

Some Twitter users questioned whether gingerbread men ever offended anybody to begin with.

Gingerbread men aren’t the only victims of PC culture this Christmas season. The left also targeted the Christmas classic “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

Apparently Rudolph’s story is too “problematic” — despite being a tale about about tolerance.

Through the eyes of a liberal, the classic song and movie is actually a story about exploitation because Santa used Rudolph’s red nose to guide his sleigh.

Leftists won’t be happy until they’ve infected everything with political correctness — especially when it comes to Christmas.
