Homeless Man Missing 40 Years Finally Reunited with Family After Video Shows His Face

Share

Family reunions are some of the sweetest things to behold. Especially when those reunions take place following decades of being apart.

A video posted to YouTube in August of 2017 brought one man home after 40 years of separation from his loved ones.

The video has received nearly 48,000 views to this day, and features the man singing a Bollywood tune in Mumbai.

Khomdram Gambhir Singh hadn’t been seen by his family since the day he left at the age of 26.

Living 2,000 miles away from his hometown in Imphal, Singh survived as a beggar and street singer.

It is only thanks to the viral YouTube video shot by Firoze Shakir that Singh was recognized. “This is something that has happened accidentally, but I am hoping this video touches hearts,” Shakir said.

Singh’s younger brother happened to see the video and immediately noticed something familiar about the man signing. He contacted the Mumbai Police Department and was soon reunited with his brother.

Since then, commenters have shared in the joy on social media. Many have offered their praise and support for the photographer who shot the video.

“Great job, Sir,” one YouTube viewer wrote. “You proved that humanity still prevails and is above everything…”
“His face is full of sorrow,” another said. “Great that his family found him.”

“I wish his family gets reunited with him,” Shakir wrote in the description of his original YouTube post. “… only a sensitive understanding family can cure a loved one …”

Shakir’s wish came true. This story is both heartwarming and heartbreaking.

Many years have passed, but hopefully this will be a fresh start for this man and his family. I’m sure this event has only encouraged Shakir to continue with his passion for street photography, as there may be more homeless people like Singh who need to be reunited with their loved ones.
