Ellen Shares Viral Vacation Video, Giraffe Shoves Head into Restaurant Window
Ellen DeGeneres is on vacation, which includes a delightful breakfast while flirting with giraffes. Her fans are loving every minute of it.
As if we needed another reason to love Ellen, the celebrity is still out doing good for others, even while on “vacation.” The star is visiting Africa not just to make us smile with her giraffe photos, but for a cause close to her heart.
On May 26, DeGeneres took to social media to share her fabulous giraffe breakfast encounter. She was at the Giraffe Manor in Nairobi, Kenya, a property which offers a free-roaming sanctuary for endangered Rothschild giraffes.
At any given moment, a giraffe or two will poke their heads in through the large-paned windows for a quick snack. DeGeneres thoroughly enjoyed the encounter.
“Your eyes are so pretty,” she told a gorgeous giraffe who came over for a bite. “You’re so pretty.”
DeGeneres is in Africa with Portia de Rossi, to make progress on the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund as part of the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund.
Before traveling to the gorilla conservation center in Rwanda, the pair stopped at the Giraffe Manor.
In a series of photos, DeGeneres shared the sheer joy and excitement of mingling with such amazing creatures. For the lifelong wildlife advocate, it must have been a dream come true.
Next, DeGeneres will travel to Rwanda to advance the first initiative of the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund.
The initiative includes building a permanent facility for the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, a cause that has long been dear to DeGeneres’ heart.
Dr. Dian Fossey has long been someone DeGeneres has admired. Fossey dedicated her life to studying and protecting endangered mountain gorillas.
Though Fossey’s life was cut short in 1986, her legacy has lived on through the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. DeGeneres was thrilled to become a part of the project — an idea and gift that came from de Rossi in celebration of DeGeneres’ 60th birthday earlier this year.
DeGeneres has long been a champion of people, always working to thank and recognize humans who deserve it. And now, she’s taking the time to be a champion of gorillas, working to protect and honor all creatures on earth.
