Bride Finds Secret Message from Late Mother on Wedding Heels

Share

Weddings are about more than just the bride and groom. They’re also about family, memories and most importantly, love.

The love a parent has for a child is something that could never properly be put into words, but one mom from the U.K. certainly tried.

In 2016, Emma Letts had much to celebrate with her engagement to Richard Wilson. Sadly, the year also ushered in a lot of heartbreak.

That same year, Letts’ mother was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. With an August 2019 wedding date still far off, it was unlikely her mother would see Letts walk down the aisle.

“Sadly, my mum past away around 17 months ago,” Letts told Weddingstar Inc. “It’s been so hard planning a wedding without having her with me and I have had lots of tears!”

Anyone who has lost a parent can surely relate to this woman’s story; this bride wanted her mom there on her big day.

With that day getting closer, it was time for Letts to pick up a custom made pair of bridal shoes designed by Lace and Love.

Did you have something special with you from a loved one on your wedding day?

“I received my finished shoes at the weekend and had a massive surprise,” Letts told Weddingstar.

According to BBC, even Letts’ fiancé knew about the special surprise that awaited her inside that shoe box.

“I pulled out the one shoe and I saw part of the message and I couldn’t think who it would be,” the bride-to-be told BBC.

The message, of course, was from her mom who secretly got in touch with Amanda Weise, who runs the Lace and Love shop.

“The client put a deposit down on shoes months ago. In the meantime and unbeknown to her, her mum who was terminally ill contacted me to pay for them,” Weise wrote on Facebook.

“She also sent me a message to include on the soles which I kept secret throughout the whole process along with the fact her mum had purchased them for her.”

Because Letts had already paid for half in advance, her mom asked Weise if she could pay for the entire bill and have her daughter refunded upon pick up.

The note written on the pair of treasured soles is priceless: “Wanted you to have a gift from me on your wedding day.”

“Your wedding shoes are my gift to you. Hope you have a magical day. Lots and lots of love and big hugs, MUM xxxx.”

Now Letts’ walk down the aisle will certainly be extra special. Her “mum” won’t be with her physically, but she will be there in spirit.

“I know these shoes will carry an even more special meaning to this client,” Weise wrote on Facebook. “Her mum will be right with her on her wedding day.”

Weise also told BBC this is “probably the most emotional pair of shoes I’m ever going to make.”

It’s extra emotional for Letts, too, partly due to the fact her mother had been writing letters to family members before she passed, but she ran out of time before writing to her daughter.

Now Letts has her own letter that she will carry with her throughout one of the biggest days of her entire life.

Our best wishes and heartfelt congrats go out to the bride and groom as they approach their special day. We have no doubt this pair of shoes will be treasured for a lifetime.
