Man Arrested for Child Porn, Admits He's Been Doing It Since 15 Years Old

It may not be particularly pleasant, but once in a while it’s worth remembering that there is evil in the world — and sometimes, it may be closer than we expect.

Residents of Fayetteville, Arkansas, received a chilling reminder of that fact last week. According to KFSM News, a known sex offender and child pornography offender has been arrested again … and it looks like he never intended to stop his exploitative behavior at all.

“A Fayetteville man is accused in federal court of possessing child pornography,” KFSM reported.

“Joshua Glen Box, 35, was indicted on June 5,” the report continued. “Box was indicted on four counts of receiving material involving the sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of possessing material involving the sexual exploitation of a minor, with the victim being younger than 12.”

Fayetteville-area citizens probably recognize Box’s name — and distinctive face — already. Just a month ago, a public notice was issued telling residents that the registered sex offender was moving into their neighborhood.

At the time, “he was accused (and convicted) of possessing thousands of images and videos of nude minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct,” the local news explained.

“The Arkansas Department Correction’s Risk Assessment division has placed Box in the Medium Risk category — that means he’s a person who may possibly re-offend,” KFSM warned.

It turns out that authorities were sadly right. Just a few short weeks after Box moved, he was once again picked up by police and charged with the same repulsive crimes for which he had landed behind bars in the first place.

The recent arrest appears to be part of a pattern of deviant behavior that goes back two decades.

“Box admitted to officers that he had been downloading child pornography since he was 15 years old,” KFSM stated, based on a police warrant. Box is now 35.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force “identified a computer located at a residence on Chadwick Street in Springdale that was offering to share child pornography using an internet file sharing program,” the report continued. “The ICAC Task Force conducted a forensic examination of Box’s computer and computer-related items and found approximately 2,500 images and 450 videos of child pornography.”

Those high numbers of offending images, if accurate, could mean years or decades in prison for Box if he is again convicted.

After his first arrest, the registered sex offender and accused child porn user was released into the public.

“Box was released on $2,500 bond and his next court date is scheduled for May 18, according to jail records,” the station reported.

That won’t be happening again: The suspected repeat offender is now in custody at the Washington County jail.

It’s important for families to remain aware of the real-life dangers that exist in the country — not to live in fear, but to be informed and able to deal with disturbing criminals who unfortunately have always been part of our world.
